Yea... I will check on that. Good point Justin. I think we all will need an international drivers permit plus our USAEUR driver lic. At your Base go to the drivers ED classroom(Where you take your USAUER driver's test) and ask for the form. They have a US Army command waiver. All we do is take(get made) two passport photos and go to your towns local DMV office (called a KFZ, where Germans regsiter their cars and have their lic plates made. Sometimes it is in the LandsAmt (Co courthouse). We take two photos and this waiver form and pay a small fee. The International permit is good for one year. Everyone will also need the GREEN insurance cards to drive outside of Germany. This green ins card proves you are insured. Each car will need a first aid kit, warning triangle AND spare fuse and light bulb kit.(10 euros or less at most German grocery stores). Also a warning vest for EACH person in the car - and the vests have to be located inside the passenger area. Before leaving Germany we will need to pick up an Austrian Autoabhn Vignette. The gas stations on the German Autobahn all sell these. 8 euros for a 10 day pass. AND put it on your windshield. It is a BIG fine if you do not stick it on your windshield or put it on partially. Like 500 euros or so. I don't think we will be driving on any Swiss Autobahns - but IF you will... you will need an Autobahn decall/vignette for there too. Last time they were close to 30 euros for one year. No ten day sticker in Swiss! Last Esso is a good point too. I know for me... going down the A9 past Munich... when you follow the Brenner(Brenno) autobahn signs to Italy... South of Munchen you instead purposely head direction Salzburg when the Brenno autobahn peels off to the South(right). You go a few kms and there is an Esso right on the A8 just past the A93 autobahn going to Innsbruch. You want to go direction Innsbruch... but travelling straight one exit gets you to one of the last Esso's in that area - direct on the autobahn. Plus they sell all the Vignettes too. Dackel |

Just before the village of Nauder's there is this old fortress carved into the mountain side. I was thinking it would make a cool destination to tour the inside of it on Saturday. Would anyone be interested in a tour? I would have to contact the people who run tours there.

Castle tour sounds fun...+UPDATE
To all, keep being creative and look for some other adventure opportunities other than driving as we'll be doing a lot of that. Maybe rafting or hiking for a couple of hours or something challenging to dissipate the stress of Stelvio .
Contacted the hotel and notified them that right now we have 21 cars and 30 people, reserving 21 rooms with two of these a quad/apt if possible. Some of the folks we haven't heard from need to come online so we can get a firm head count....specifically: fourtailpipes, KC Skyrider, 1560, and 1erMCoupe. Our drop dead date to notify the hotel will be June 1th, 15 days out...and enough time to not get saddled with paying for rooms that are being used. Info all, I'm TDY 24 May-10 Jun working 14+ hour days on location with sparse internet access so will only be able to minimally plan Stelvio after the 24th. Thanks to Dave for already stepping up!. Anyone else want to assist in planning the trip as we get closer?

I know some of you were talking about alternate events. What about a cycling trip...hit a couple beer gartens, stop and take pictures?
