Maybe the car have to go.

So, end of 2013, i decided to pick up 2 amazing cars, the SLS amg and M5,
since having to let go both 330i and 523i, my 1M serves as my DD for 2-3 months now.

thinking about to let go, the 1M, and give it to another caretaker. and maybe find a cheaper replacement for the Family and more comfort. also for helping funding new business.
the SLS is really hard to be driven, the ground clearance is just to low, but i got to admit it handles brilliantly.

the 1M for a while was a care that i thought i'd never let go of, not sold yet, but if anything doesn't change my mind, it will go.
maybe one day i'll be able to get it back. hopefully. (if its gone)

what do you guys think? any reasons for me to change my mind?

Side note:
We have seen already several highly modded 1Ms over here. However, once you think: okay, now (s)he's definitely finished modding (released from the mod bug) and can enjoy driving the car 'as is', a message pops up that the car is parted out and put up for sale. It's a rather intriguing phenomenon: going stellar but subsequently burn up in the atmosphere (instead of staying around). Alike Elsabor67's sig about car modding: "you're only done when you sell the car".

if you can afford to buy an SLS AMG you can afford to keep the 1M.

Yes i understand, but basically i want to let go of it. Taking care 3 cars at the same time is time consuming, also taking advantage to us the fund for something else. Maybe i would start modifying the f10

I had 3 cars in the garage when I still had my ex 335i and 1M. I can relate to Jay-K it's a hell of a mission to keep 3 cars in tip top shape.

Good luck with the choices

I understand. I own 2 cars and it is difficult....but mainly because one car is older.

the m5 is a nice car but will never have the rawness of the 1M

given the scarcity of 1M in Indonesia, I think you should follow your first instinct and pass it to an enthusiast who would treasure his M over his lesser cars, if he/she has more than one.

Did you manage to find out what problem you had with your car, it was shaking at one point and no one knew why

dealer said its the oxygen sensor, i will replace it as the parts came in.
probably the sensors got damaged after installing and removing the exhaust.

Yes exactly, I know that it will be hard to let go of the 1M, and perhaps later on in the future I have a dream of owning lots and lots of cars, the 1M will definitely be back!.

right now I would like to focus more on taking care of these 2 cars, and start modifying the M5, also the SLS has its exhaust and wheels on its way. my SLS only had 990 km and i think it must be driven more.

i bet its going to be very hard to find a car like 1M, even if its manual i don't mind driving it for 2 hours a day, while driving the M5 30 minutes gave me back pain already somehow.

I'm sorry but what is the need to have a debate over this here?

You already know members will try to convince you not to sell your 1M…

If you have decided to sell your 1M, just do it.

Jay-K,

Not sure if this exists in Indonesia too, but around here you can get a very nice tax write off if you gift the car to a charity. If you'd like, I'd be more than happy to declare myself a charity and take the 1M off your hands..

You are in a good place regardless of your decision; congrats!
