console delete for cars with idrive

Anyone here deleted their middle console that has idrive? Was about to yank the thing out, but then wasn't sure how you dealt with the dumb idrive controller. Did you remount it somehow? Or is it easier just to leave the entire console alone?

Replace it with a non-I drive console? My car came without it which was a requirement.
