Issues With Aux on my
Recently I bought a a 2010 135i. On the test drive the PO mentioned in passing that his iPhone Y cable never worked and blamed it on it being aftermarket vs OEM. Imagine my surprise when I went to use the Aux and my phone and it didn't work!
This is a non-Idrive car with the base (non HK) radio. Here are my symptoms: -No audio. Tired different phones, aux cables, even swapped what end was plugged in to which device. -When I crank the volume all the way up the car chime gets louder and I can get a sort of 'white noise'. -Aux is detected on the radio and I can select it. -If I mess with the aux cable I don't even get a popping or any noise. I've looked into the actual aux port to see if there is just crud in there, but nothing. Do I need to replace the Aux/USB combo under the arm rest? I don't believe the radio has ever been removed/replaced so it shouldn't be a code issue. This it driving me nuts. I want to listen to podcasts instead of garbage local radio! |

Did you check the fuse? According to http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317184 , it's the same fuse as the cigarette lighter.
If that doesn't work, I would pull out the aux port and perform a continuity test with a multimeter to see if there's a bad connection there. I'd also inspect the pin connector. |

I have not checked the fuses yet. The cigarette lighter still works. I use it every day to charge my phone.
I guess the next step is to pull the socket out. Where is the best place to buy a new/used one if mine is bad? |

You'll have to double check on realoem.com, but I think the part number is 84109237653 |

It could be that you just need a SW update for it to work. Have you tried buying the BMW y-cable for $50 at any dealer ?
You might also want to run your VIN thru an online decoder and see what options your car has. The USB/Aux audio option is 6FL. PS: When you go by a bmw dealer have tem run your VIN for any open recalls. There were three or four for the 135i's.

Yea I have the y cable, it recognized my iPhone and my song library but when I play something no sound.
I only have 6FL as an option. It looks like it's the aux port but I have no idea how to fix. Any suggestion on how to troubleshoot? Thanks!! Last edited by BoostLe713; 01-19-2017 at 09:45 AM.. |

Check the aux cable and make sure it has only 2 rings not 3. I had that issue and switched to a monster aux 2 ring cable and it works great again. The 3 ring cable still doesn't. Hope that works.

Also have you tried just plugging your phone into the USB w/ the iPhone cable by itself but not using the y cable?
Depending on your setup the Y may not be needed. On my car it's not needed. I just plug the iPhone cable to USB & into the phone. For example I have: 6FL USB-/AUDIO INTERFACE 6VC CONTROL COMBOX 676 HIFI LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM

About a year ago I used a tissue and isopropyl alcohol to clean out the female and male connections to stop intermittent cut out of sound. No problems since.

Old thread but no resolution posted.
You can see specs on my car here: VK41865 With the phone plugged into the aux go into the music menu and then into the aux menu. this provides a volume adjustment for the aux input. Turn it down. See if your music plays. |

Is there an answer to this?
Same dead aux jack problem here - everything works except aux-in. It's an available setting on the non-CIC stereo, but when you select it, no sound. Also, to who ever post the photo of the .125" jack and labeled it 2-ring, AND 3-ring in the same photo... that doesn't help anyone... which one is it?
