High pitch noise from Professional Radio - Resolved Free

Hi All

There are many threads on this, most concluding that BMW recognized the issue and issued a bulletin in March 2014 saying that basically the radio needs replacing with anything built Feb 2014 on.

Of course not too many folks are still under warranty, so replacing the head unit is a high priced option.

Some people tried removing the rear harness and reseating, some saw success, many did not... I did not.

One person in the mix said he went into the hidden menu and changed the region to europe, and that fixed it.

So I tried that, and yes, the noise is not exactly gone but dramatically reduced to the point where you really need to pay attention in total silence to pick it up. In fact all other regions make the noise go away, except USA. I toggle in and out of USA and the noise came back each time.

Moving the setting to Europe did not seem to affect the radio reception, not exactly sure what that setting is for....

Anyhow; passing on my experience for people down the road on this.
