For those of you who have not seen EmmDrei's Performance Seats in his 1M... here is his original post. Maybe EmmDrei can post some better interior pics here?

not so simple, the sensor is a weight thing, maybe it could be simulated...

If its plugged in the airbag lights will go off. I understand what you're saying though, if it's just plugged in the passenger airbag won't go off.

I've seen people slide them back under the cushion in new seats. Anyone brave enough to dissassemble their new seats? lol

another option I have been looking is the recaro sportster cs and having them recovered to match the rest of the interior, much cheaper than the similar bmw performance spec

What would you want to simulate? The seats come with side airbags, so they have to have weight sensors built in. Nowhere in the paperwork that came with all the stuff (for the german TÜV) does it say, that my airbags have been deactivated. The only thing that had to be turned off in my car was the warning sound that the belts are not locked. Simply because I have the 4-point Schroth harnesses and if either me and/or the passenger are wearing those, then the "seatbelt unfastened" light is on. That's what made these seats interesting... (as opposed to i.e. Recaro Poles or Sportsters) it's simple plug & play.

Afaik the reason they are not sold in the US is simply because the mounted seats would have to undergo additional crash tests and would have to be certified by some US government institution. And thus (probably for cya reasons) BMW will have coded US cars to regognize the seats to prohibit installation and ridiculous lawsuits afterwards. Honestly... I wouldn't blame them!

Anyone else in the UK (or beyond) had the performance seats fitted with fully work seat heating ?

Thanks!
if you have electric seats you need an additional cable:
