Finally replaced the stock shocks, hubs, tie rods and sway bar links (after 122K miles...)
Control arms are next when I have time.

In the past week, I installed the ZHP shift knob, and I had my guy install rear M3 guide rods (forgot to do that with initial suspension work) and a G-Plus intercooler.

Gave the car some exercise at Watkins Glen, had a blast. Two days of open track for advanced drivers, probably got over 100 laps in; my body is a wreck. Definitely need to upgrade the sport seats to something a little more supportive...

Went for a nice drive with my cousin and walked through some woods and along a creek and came up to a couple waterfalls. Afterwards We went and got some bomb pizza.

Washed and waxed it in preparation for driving up to Monterey for Car Week next Wednesday. Used Griot's Spray-On Wax as a drying aid with their PFM Terry Weave Drying Towel, and then followed up with a coat of their Best of Show Wax. I'm more interested in protection than looks.

Was going to remove the grill to replace or spray paint it but found some gloss black tape and coloured tape I had so gave it some DIY attention. I had some vinyl M stripes on order but they never arrived. |

Glad you like it. Happy to part with a piece that I would not be able to use anymore.
As you know, it will only get better with time. Hope you enjoy it for many miles. And I get to free up some garage space, since both my wife and I park there and we need all the space we can get.

I will say that I’ve seen the BMW carbon fiber performance strut bar break in some old posts here, which tells me there’s at least some flex going on in the car without a bar. |

Like the picture says lol. I was pulling away from a stoplight and I heard a pop and a clank. Thought I just ran over a glass bottle or something. Started hearing a rattling after this though, so I lightly kicked the exhaust once I got home. Looked underneath and one piece of the bracket was just laying unbolted on the exhaust. The other piece was still at the stoplight!

Looks good! I forgot to mention in my last post that I also installed the glasses holder, although I may move it to the passenger side, because it may get in the way when I wear a helmet.

Finally broke down and installed hood pins. It was just doing some gnarly flapping at high speeds. I don't hate them as much as I thought I was going to. Also had someone go over the suspension and tighten up/adjust some things. Feels so much better to drive
And last but not least, fixed the radio I've been without for over a year it was a good weekend for the One |

Changed the coils, spark plugs, serpentine belt and tensioners today. The belt was not an issue, very easy, though I suspect it had already been changed not too long ago as it looked great at 90K miles. I also installed LED bulbs to my headlights.
The plugs have over 1mm gap, so definitely due, though a nice tan color. Interestingly, the coils were Denso, and looked like new, maybe are. I replaced them with Bosch. I know, a step down. But I wanted new just in case. The car was running fin, but at 90K miles, I figured it was a good idea. That said, I learned a valuable lesson about coil installation. Make absolutely sure the coil is properly installed. I had started the car after coil install and it ran OK, after kicking out a cloud of smoke from oil dropping into number 4 cylinder when I pulled the plug. When I went to drive it, it ran like crap and the SES light came on. Back home and pulled it all back apart again. I pulled and swapped coil number 1 and no change, so did the same for number 2, bingo. I figured I had a bad new coil. But, just for fun, I swapped back in the new Bosch and it still ran fine. I am guessing the connector was not fully seated. The Bosh coils have plastic retainers, and the denso metal. Put it all back together and runs and drives fine. No noticeable change really, but I am glad it is done. The only thing left, to do in the fall, is the water pump and rad fluid, then maybe the trans fluid.

Changed the engine oil and filter, brake fluid, 6MT transmission oil, rear axle oil, put a 1mm spacer in the left rear ABS sensor so it would stop triggering codes when the sensor hit the reluctor ring. Time for an inspection sticker.
