High millage E87 130i buying advice

I don’t have much money atm and would like a project car and really fancy a 130i.

After a change in financial circumstances I was forced to sell my 2018 M4 and down graded to a 60k 2010 e87 116i (2.0) I started to fix it up myself and enjoyed it.

Now I’m looking at eBay and auto trader for a 130i e87 and for low millage looks 60-80k looks like £5k-8k but there’s a couple that need tlc around £2k for 167k miles!

Is it a bad idea? Will it be an engine out deal to get it back to good health?

What I’m not sure of is if for 3-4k more I can get half the millage is that worth it or will I be wanting to do the same kind of work at 100k miles?
