n52 trannyswap

Hey guys, I have an e82 and an e88 with a ton wrong with the motor, but a nice tranny. so I wanted to put the manual transmission off the e88 and put it onto my currently automatic e82. both cars have the n52 motor. Im mostly curious about what the pros and cons of the gm auto and the bmw manual are so I can make a decision on whether or not I want to put the time in. If I do end up swapping in the manual, should I leave my diff? I know the autos came with a higher final drive ratio, I don't know if its worth it to keep it in though since bmw must've had there reasons for putting two different final drives in.

I think it would be way easier to swap the motor and the diff into the manual 128i, that way it should (theoretically) be a bolt-in swap, versus having to code nearly every computer in the Auto car for the manual trans...

Swap is not that tough. Hard part is the clutch switch and reverse wire integration. The rest is parts swap. Don’t forget to change the harmonic balancer and gas pedal. Coding is easy if you have experience. That manual is fun to do. Also leave your 3.73 in and enjoy.
