Not just snow....cobblestones and uneven pavement. You need a bicycle, instead!

I am going to be moving to Boston this fall, so I am not sure what its like to have a car in Boston, and If it is really worth buying the 1M there.

Driving a rear wheel drive car in the snow is obviously harder than a front wheel drive or all wheel drive; It takes more skill since the rear end tends to slip and slide... That being said, with a good set of snow tires it is possible to drive a rear wheel drive vehicle in the snow while exercising caution...

I have not driven the 1M in the snow yet, in fact I don't believe anyone except test pilots have; but I did drive a friend's 6MT M3 with snow wheels/tires for two weeks 2 years ago here in Boston. Let me just say it was not the easiest car to drive around, but definitely doable with the snow wheel/tire setup.

I ordered a set of OEM wheels and snow tires that fit the M3 competition package since they should fit the 1M and I will be driving it in the snow come the winter, but I have driven in the snow for over 15 years in various cars and know my limitations...

If you have driven in the snow before and are comfortable doing so, then the 1M with snow set up should be no problem if you keep the traction control engaged and take it easy, especially if you stay within the city (they clean up really fast when it snows, you barely drive in the snow inside Boston). If you have never driven in the snow before and/or plan to commute in and out of Boston, then I would be hesitant to try and learn in a 1M...

Just my two cents

I don't see any reason why the 1M will be any worse in the snow then my 135i, in fact I expect the 1M to be a bit better with the LSD. It is a bit lower so that might be an issue.

I really had no issues the last two years with good snow tires on the 135i it was just fine in the the snow. Good fun at time actually!

Unless you already have an allocation with a deposit down, this may be a moot question.
