LED side blinker
Hello all,
I saw these LED side blinker lights on eBay the other day and ordered them. I didn't like that the black plastic was a bit scratched up (and to me a bit of an eye sore) so I took them off and decided to paint them not only because I usually get wax on them when waxing my car but also because I wanted to make them a matte texture. I gave them a quick clean with denatured alcohol (I didn't want to use acetone as I wasn't sure if it would react with the plastic) In retrospect I should have sanded them down a bit to create a better surface for the paint to bond to, but cest la vie. The second and third pic is what I ended up with. In my opinion they look much better than before and also I like the way they light up in a line one by one If anyone is interested in doing this I used Rust-Oleum clear gloss at first because of the UV protection, and then I sprayed a couple of coats of Rust-Oleum clear matte. It's pretty straight forward to be honest basically you just paint them. I can't seem to find the video I took of the way they light up and look on the car but if anyone is interested I can go to my office and take another video. All the best, M |

Depo makes, or at least made smoked LED sidemarkers for the E82.
They fit and work great. I've never been a fan of painting the outside of safety lighting. Makes them dark.
