Wow looking sweet! You will love the X5M..Have the 2012 and just bought it off our original lease..just an epic cruiser and road car!

Couple quick questions as I haven't heard of these.

What are the following and why did you elect to do them?

Stage 1 Polish/Paint Correction ( is this basically a wax?)

Full coat of C-Quartz ceramic coating of the entire 1M (including Xpel and Wheels)

Car is stunning!!!!

Thanks -

Stage 1 Polish/Paint Correction is just a v light abrasive polish that evens out the clear coat/removes imperfections. It's critical that if you're going to use a semi-permanent ceramic coating like CQuartz or OptiCoat (rather than just a wax) that you ensure that your paint is perfect before application. This package is a very common on new cars. It's not cheap- but it dramatically improves the quality/depth of the finish/paint.

Xpel is (the best) protective 'clear bra' on the market. It has a self healing clear coat (heals under UV light, like the sun) so it'll never really scratch. Importantly, it can also be waxed just like the rest of the car.

Motivation for both these expenses was preservation. I paid a collector car price and I want to make sure it looks/runs it's best and is protected.

Great looking car. I also really like the tile floor in your garage. Can you tell me where you got the tiles and/or who installed the floor ?

I purchased Salerno Full Body Porcelain Tile - Everest Series, from Build Direct. The tile is PEI5, full body porcelain tile (not a glaze). It's grippy wet and dry and super strong.

I paid ~$2.75/sqft delivered.

Underneath the tile is Schluter Ditri-Heat. Keeps the garage nice and toasty. Here are some pictures of the install.

Thanks for the info. Plan to do the garage floor in the Spring. You also opened my eyes in how to improve the detail of my car.

It's really the only car I'd swap the 1M out for. And if I could substantiate both- I would keep it. It's really that special.

Wait, wait, wait...you changed all six injectors on a car with less than 16,000 miles as "preventative maintenance?"

I complained of a "rough idle" and my long-standing SA took care of them under the last bit the car's warranty.

I only wish I had, had them check on the plugs

Traded into BMW of Warwick. Sounds like they'll CPO, if asked. Reach out to Luke Mayer if you're interested (he's a star CA there, high bandwidth, no BS).

Wow, curious why you traded it in so quickly after just putting it on the market. Did they really make you that great of an offer?

Net of the tax savings- it's was just a hair below what I was hoping to receive privately (without the hassle). I also received a stellar deal on the X5M... had I waited until Jan to order the X5M (the exact build my dealer was actually able to locate at port), I likely would have paid more.

So all in- I'm pleased.

That's his price delivered...What about install, did OP install himself? Or he average everything to equal that amount for each SqFt?

Sorry for missing this- flooring was (including Schluter heating parts/install) about $10/sqft.

I purchased all of the components (down to the grout) and didn't pay a GC mark up.

Worth mentioning that this was one part of a complete garage renovation. So I may have paid more elsewhere...

Here's a photo from early on:

And the last day with the 1M

Ah, if it was a warranty claim, what the heck. Might as well, I guess.
