Walnut blasting in the Bay Area

Hi all,

Anyone got any recommendations for walnut blasting around the SF bay area or the peninsula? Just a little shy of 50K and this rough idle is really starting to drive me nuts! Thanks for any leads...

San Carlos German motorworks. I think it's around 5 to 6 hundred.

I don't know since I do it myself in my drive way

San Carlos - Bing!

Thanks for the link Uberschnell; I'm in Redwood Shores, just a bike ride away!

Thanks to Ilike too,

It's surprisingly difficult to find NorCal walnut blisters for decent prices, in contrast to the SoCal scene. (Same thing goes for Vietnamese sandwiches I suppose.)

Thanks for the tip on PTechnic.

Gave German auto repair in San Carlos a call to discuss it. They want around $600 for the job, which seems a little pricey. They also said with just shy of 50K miles, they'd be more inclined to suspect injectors rather than carbon buildup.

Went back over my records and found I'd never gotten new injectors under warranty like I thought, only the HPFP...

Hmmm... Guess I better check my injector part numbers now. Apparently some can be replaced singly, but some need to be replaced as a set. !@#$%!@#

With 50K without a carbon cleaning your valves will be caked with carbon and hurting performance, even if the root cause is injectors.

600 seems like a deal compared to the dealer, but honestly it's not $600 worth of work. If you are halfway DIY inclined and have a decent compressor I'll lend you the blaster and tools and you can knock it out in a few hours on your own. I even have some extra walnut shells you can have.

Ha ha, thanks so much. I am actually pretty good with the car, but don't have a compressor, and weekends these days are claimed by my 7 year old daughter. If I was still a bachelor, I'd jump right in and damn their $600.

Oh well, thanks for your kind offer...

Damn, that's double the Offset Motorwerks price! Guess everything is more expensive up north.

Just got back from one of those trips, new turbos and injectors, wish I knew about the walnut blasting...

Hey uberschnell, I know this post is a few months old now, but I'm wondering if you still have the tools for walnut blasting?
