TMS Tune for N51 Engines on Sale

Turner Motorsports has the DME/ECU tune for the N51 engine on sale for $344.25 (25% off of the regular price of $460).

Any input on if it's worth it or not?

Isn't the TMS Tune same as AA tune?

I'd like to know as well. On the AA website, it notes that TMS sells the supercharger kits as well as their software. When I asked a TMS sales rep, I was told that they had their own software (which definitely used to be the case with the Conforti work). This was confirmed by Nick at AA on a recent phone call; he said they really weren't using AA products even though they are still listed as a software 'reseller' on the AA site.

One thing I found interesting. If you buy the flash, you can send the ECU to them for updating. There is no note of a fee to do the flash. If you want to have them install the software, there is a 2-hour service charge to do so. Maybe I don't understand the process, but doesn't someone have to do the flash whether it is in person or if you send the ECU to them?

If you haven't seen this already, it's very interesting - Steve Dinan on ECU Tuning

If I'm hearing it correctly, there is nothing to be gained through ECU tuning on a non-forced induction engine (skip to 6:25).

Sorry, but there are quite a few that you can expect from tuning N51/N52.

That's because he would rather see you drop the coin on his flashy expensive items. Heard you will get a sweet block font DINAN to put on the back of your car though. Oh wait, that is an extra 19.99 as well.

I suspect S. Dinan is not taking into consideration the upgrade to the 3-stage manifold as part of the process.

Nevertheless, there are dyno charts showing improvements from only the manifold, only the software, and manifold plus software (don't get me started on headers!).

That's correct for most NA engines (including the previous gen M54). But with the N51, you can take advantage of the 3 stage intake and the valvetronic to make some more power. With the N52, you can put the 3 stage intake on and make a very large gain with a tune.

I've seen that but he's excluding engines where some modifications have been done like headers, the 3 stage intake manifold, etc. If you have the N51 there's a lot to be gained from my experience.
