N54 seems "laggy" after bolt ons
Last weekend I had a AA fmic and downpipes installed to complement DCI, Berk street axleback and Cobb. Switched map to stage 2+ FMIC (sport) version 301 (not the latest 401 version). Car sounds absolutely awesome but seems like it has more lag and doesn't wake up until about 4k rpm and I frankly expected a bit more power. Is it possible that while installing downpipes or fmic that a vacuum hose was kinked causing the wastegates to not close all the way? Exhaust note seems rattly, but I dont know if thats normal with downpipes. It went to limp mode the other day until I stopped and re started. Limp mode seemed like it didn't retard power too much in the sense I was able to maintain speed (40 mph or so). Car has 54k. Thanks.

I dunno mine kind of lags too when giving it a sudden increase in throttle (1/4 to a sudden 3/4 throttle) seems to lag and bog for a quick second and then decides to have power, but I don't throw any codes or anything. You do a walnut blasting yet (I know doesn't have to do with the car going into limp mode, but might help with other issues)?

Car had a misfire in almost all cylinders that appears to have been cured with Seafoam treatment (a miracle really, didn't think it would work). I have not been able to get it to misfire again with or without Cobb installed. Gonna check codes tonight after work.

Cobb shows P30FF code. Doing more research...

Do you know if the car throws the P30FF code if your diverter valves are not holding boost? I installed the COBB Stage 1+ about a week ago and was noticing boost in the 19psi range until my charge pipe detonated. Believe it or not, the car didn't throw a code. I ordered a new OEM charge pipe (for "warranty" purposes) and an ER charge pipe for the tune. I installed the ER charge pipe and went for a test drive. The car was running great for about 20 minutes before something let loose. I got the P30FF code and the yellow half-engine light. Afterward, the car wouldn't hold boost over 9.9psi and I could hear air escaping for somewhere under the hood as the engine began to bogg and the exhaust note changed (deepened). I went home and checked all the hose clamps and went for a second test drive. The car threw the same code as soon as I went above 10psi. I put everything back to stock (OEM charge pipe and original PPK tune) and the car is running fine. Any thoughts?

Found a cone filter that wasn't tight, everything else looks secure. Cleared code and in second gear at wot it threw the code again. Never achieved over 12.3 lbs of boost in several 1/2 gear pulls.

You need to check everything on the charge side. Start at the compressor outlets and work your way to the throttle body. |

A smoke tester would be best but a simple boost leak tester is enough also. They are easy to make if you have a compressor and a pressure regulator.

It turns out the bellmouth on a downpipe was preventing the waste gate actuator from operating properly, necessitating it's needing to be rotated in it's v band clamp. HUGE shout out for all at LTMW for fixing the issue and generally being pleasant and accommodating people. I went from barely making 12-15 pounds of boost to 20.8. THIS is the beast I was expecting! I mean, holy sh!t... The trade off is the fix has quieted the exotic exhaust note. =( Well worth it though!
Thanks to all that contributed their good advice.

hahahahahaha i just did the same shit today. it sounded like a fucking truck for a while, then i was like uhh this is super slow, no codes or anything. did a little research, took it back apart, wouldn't you know the vband clamp is tightened down on the actuator. oh well, kind of a bitch to fix, had to take it all back apart, but now it runs good. It's not significantly faster than stage 1+, even on the e30 map, but I can tell it's a bit faster. I think I need midpipes and axleback pretty bad. the 6200 - 7000 range is very nice to finally have power in. I don't know how much power it added, but stock I lose to my buddies is350, stage 1+ i put about 2 cars on him 60 - 110 and now I put about 3 - 4.
