Visited my dealer yesterday and he told me that the -35i's had been cleared by the EPA and they would begin departing the prep center soon, BUT that it might still be til the end of the month before my new 135i could make it the 50 miles or so from Newark. Arrrgghhh!

It's like most governmental programs, dealings or whatever. CARB is a GREAT idea. It is done in the world's best interest for global warming and air quality. The problem comes when the power to carry out the process is put in the hands of hacks and people who don't really care and aren't held accountable for their lack responsibility, let the games begin.

my dealer just sent me a long letter - a little bit after the fact - talking about this epa holdup and that they are hoping to get this sorted out by the end of the month.
has anyone heard anything concrete about this thing being dealt with yet?

All you can do is be patient
The only ones that are going to be driven crazy is you. It's not the first the time we've had to deal with stuff like this, it sucks, but it happens. Best thing you can do is not bug your dealer, because they can do absolutely nothing. If you are going to be without transportation before then, talk to your dealer, mayber they can set you up with a loaner vehicle. Everybody's cars will begin arriving probably around the 22nd -24th & so forth.

CARB executive orders are expected approx. 10/24. Cars will ship ASAP after. Dealing with the EPA means there is no guarantee of dates though...
