M Logos/Decals/Stripes on non M cars.

How do you feel about M Stripes or Logos or Decals on non M cars.

As an example. I have a 135i. Though it is an M-Sport car, it is not an M car. I run the M stripes on my front grill. I'm into it.

Nice or Rice?

I was thinking about doing some trim stuff with tricolor stitching and having it as a 12 o clock stripe on my steering wheel when I get that done. Nothing outrageous but nice little accent

I put a stripe on my car last weekend and like the look of it....I can see how it might look a little boy race but I have noticed a lot of exotics lately with graphics...

If its not a real M it better not have any aftermarket M badges/decals on it. The factory BMW M-Milking is quite enough.

I really wish they'd keep it separate ala MB AMG. The worst is the "m235i" in the GAUGE CLUSTER of those cars. I guess the 19 year old kids who's parents are leasing the car for them like it.

Personally I like the stripes on the grill, but its gotta be a real M otherwise its just a boy racer thing IMO.

And the longer it goes on the more I realize I'm being a scrooge about it/the more people just 'accept it'. Its like the DCT... that is not a manual... nor is your m235 a real M car... but I guess if I were 20 I wouldn't know any better, or care rather.

whenever I see "m stripes" on the front grille of a BMW all I think is "that guy knows how to use eBay"

Its probably the most common poor taste modification I see on BMWs.

were you aiming for the 135tii concept? The stripe is supposed to be off center not on the center...if that's what you were going for...

I like the tii look but put the stripe in the middle to cover up some bad paint chips that were getting worse around the roundel and middle. I figured I'd put the stripe on to keep it from getting worse until I decide what to do. Figure it comes off easy enough and was only 13 bucks

Garage List
I've got the motorsport stripes on the lower lip of my front fascia and the lower lip of my trunk lid below the license plate, just as an accent.

I draw the line with the M badge: That's only for M cars.

Yeah. I think I’m in the same boat as you. I don’t think I could convince myself to rock M badges, but accent colors are cool with me if done tastefully.

putting badges of a higher trim car isn't rice, its being a poser. We have a MB franchise, and you have no idea how many customers with E350s would come in, have us remove the emblems and replace them with E63 AMG badges... Yeah buddy, no one will ever know you could only (barely) afford a E350. Same goes for BMW's as they seem to attract a similar crowd. Just yesterday I saw in traffic a 228i that had M2 badges, sad really.

I think every brand sees this happening. Honda was always a known offender with 'type R' badges. People just get stupid with badges and doing things in general. I saw an sw20 MR2 with GTR fender badges on it along with universal fender flares ON TOP of his TRD (probably fake) wide body kit. Thing was a confused abortion

....starting at 20k for a liberty walk kit...it seems all the rage now with exotics and graphics and kits. Just look at all the youtubers.... anyway I'm happy with my racing stripe and I have a vrsf and afe sticker on my back driver side window...would I go crazy and do a full kit....no but I don't hate on anyone that does. Just don't make your car something it isnt... ie m badges on a non m car

Good one...

As mentioned above, it's your car, you paid for it. You get to do what you want. Your taste is what matters. Besides, adding a few stripes to your grille is nothing like some of the completely over-the-top crap that people do.

I like the grill stripes.... to me that's just showing support for bmw motorsports, not trying to look like an mcar. I'd even go as far as converting a 1er to an m wide body engine and all... that's cool but even if its identical it's not built that way from the factory... don't put an m badge on it. I would even be fine with this guy minus the badges https://youtu.be/rC2v-9xsqCE
