left low beam headlight malfunction - xenon

Hey guy's question,
just got this alarm and the passenger side bulb is out.

Before I start digging into this. I have some questions
My car has xenon headlights option, is this the D1s bulb ?

<see the example pic>

If so, are there anything I should be wary of

1> is this a dealer recommended fix ?

2> is this an OEM part recommended (it's going to be $300-$400)

3> I can see a "D1S Sylvania High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlight Bulb, (linky) for $99 , would I have a problem matching up the colors

https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/d...-0204195p.html

4> could it be a fuse, there are 3 listed 62 / 84 /86

5> I also noticed this headlight unit seems to have condensation in it
I did replace the DRL bulb last year, I'm sure I managed to get everything back together again, but wondering now if anything was loose

I really don't wanna spend a lot, but have been reading some horror stories

I see some info on this being a high voltage system, do I need to pull the battery ?

I am going to have a look and see

many thanks

If there is water in the headlight, you are most likely going to need a complete headlight including modules. If you buy a used one, most likely won't require programming. And careful inside an HID headlight, there is enough voltage in the HID system to kill you when it is on.

HI,
I had a better look though not inside, there is almost a tiny ammount of condesation on the upper part of the lamp unit, nothing rolling around inside that I can see

The back panel with the 2 clips on one side the clip had come away from the bottom hole, but the cover itself can't be pulled or not loose.

Weather is lousy at the moment, so I'm going to next, pull the cover off and have a look at the bulb and connections, and try and get a desiccant pack inside the unit.

I've seen a German parts place which does OEM replacement for $120 each (I need some Bosh wipers as well) so may pick them up

Some guy is advertising one original part for 100, in a BMW box, said he got it from a demo they had trashed the headlight unit on, the guy;s is 40 clicks away, so it's gas to go up and get it, and no g'tee if working or not.

That's 100 bucks down the drain, for 20 more, the brand is flosser or sylvania at 99

txs

It's not the bulb, but the bulb def, looked blown, I checked the fuses all ok
so probably took out the ballast or the cable, hard for me to get to. There's an INDY
near me who can swap parts around to prove the fault
