My wife's 135 was at the dealer today and I mentioned that sometimes it cranked too long before starting. I suggested they look at the fuel pump and they determined it was going bad. It'll have a new one in a day or so. Here's my question: Has BMW gone to an improved pump so that we won't likely see this issue again, or does the car just get a new pump that's likely to also fail?

They have went through more than one updated HPFP ... its now better then the original one, that being said i would not be surprised if the new one fails too

Should be pretty safe with the new one. You don't read much about the new ones failing.
