'09 nav issues
While I'm at it, I've noticed another thing that's quite a pain in the ass. Why is there no pop up screen about upcoming turns in the nav? I turned on the exit zoom window, but that only pops up when getting on/off highways. It seems the only other way to get a turn arrow is to have the trip arrow screen up full time in the split window. Seriously? Is that the only way? Or do I just have a messed up idrive in my car (cf: my phone pairiing post)?
Or how about this, select "avoid toll roads" and get directions. On an 18 mile trip from newark to brooklyn the nav will route me all the way up north for 150 miles and back down to avoid a toll rather than send me through the tunnel. So the "most efficient route" is a 305 mile trip to avoid one toll. YGBSM?!?!?!? I would think the computer would figure that sucking up a toll and making the trip 40 mins is better than going that far out of the way for 5 hrs+, isn't that what "most efficient" means? I can't imagine that the last gen idrive would actually have better features than the new one but so far that seems the case at least as it pertains to nav... |

well, you said - avoid toll roads - and it did
no option for.. avoid toll road, unless it adds more than 10 minutes to the drive time... your option is to take the tunnel and from there it will avoid tolls once again.. problem solved... nothing is perfect.. just like the option to turn on night drive or whatever its called.. it only works when it pops up for a turn off the highway..

Come on now, on all the other map programs/gpses I've used if you select avoid toll roads it doesn't send you 300 miles out of the way! That's just poor coding on the software end.
