Grille options

I'm looking for different options for kidney grille replacements. Currently I have the original grilles with the chrome frames.
I know a popular option are the black grilles but I really like the metallic blades it's just the chrome frame that gets me.
The black grilles also make it look like there's two black holes in the front if the car.
I have Crimson Red exterior and I feel like black is not a good color to match.
I've seen the metallic black grilles from jb speed with the M colored striping and I like those, but again I'm not sure if the color difference is something that I would like. One downside of the CR exterior is that there aren't many pictures of them with different aftermarket items.

I've also seen pictures of grilles with color matching frames, those I don't like.

I guess what I'm asking for are suggestions and perhaps even pictures of different options.

There's always the black and chrome grilles that come on the 128i, 135is, and the 1M. I have them on my car as well and think they look great.

Maybe you could try plasti-dipping the chrome frames, but leave the blades metallic? Easy and cheap to test, and removable if you don't like it.

I had thought about trying like an anthracite frame so this could be good way to try it. Doesn't plasti-dip have a matte file jsh to it though?

Generally yes, but they have many other products now that can create a gloss, satin, metallic, or pearl finish as well

Took me some time but I got a second set of kidneys and painted them. Installed them yesterday. I think the color works well with the red.

I got some M5 style ones from Amazon in gloss black and split the OEM frames to keep the silver outer ring with the new M5 inners.

I have the carbon fiber grilles from JB speed and they look pretty good. I understand and what you're saying about the "2 black holes" look being undesirable, but the gloss from the carbon doesn't really have that effect.
