What loaner car to expect?

My new trim has arrived at my dealership, which happens to be 100miles away. They dented my trim so they got a new one. It was agreed that they would send someone over to my place in a loaner and take my car to fix. First bimmer, what loaner should I expect? Must it be a BMW ?

Thanks
Skimo

When I took my car in for service I got a 2005 E46 but it may differ from dealership to dealership.

I always get another BMW as my loaner, even during routine service orders. My CA allows me to pick between what's available, within reason of course. I agree with Azn it does vary within each dealership.

Not sure what kind.. I have seen many 3 and X5 loaners on the road...

My dealer offers to flatbed a loaner to your house... drop it off... pick your car up... and then will bring it back when service is done... pretty neat!

wow bzzbenz, that's pretty neat. My dealer requires a two-week advance reservation for a loaner. I am yet to see what kind of cars will be available. They offer shuttle service.

i believe you get whatever you drive, unless they run out you'll get something like an x5 or a 5, rarely (lucky if you do), you'll get a 7

I doubt they give 7's out as loaners... because for my parents 7 they always give us a e60 .... but once they ran out of bmw loaners and had to give us a Chrysler 300C ... go figure

Since X3s don't really sell like hotcakes, I've usually had one of those...one time a 325xi wagon, another time a Mini Cooper that nobody wanted as a loaner because it was a manual...
Oh, and one time an E60 525i.

I took my 06 325i into IG Burton, Milford today. They gave me an 05 325xi as a loaner till they fix mine!! They also told me not to fill the tank when I return it!!They also asked me when I turned the car over to them, would I like a free wash??? YES!!! I could have bought my car about $900.00 less in Wilmington, De, but would not have gotten the service I receive at this dealership, and would have been 50 miles away from me !! Even called me the day before to remind me of my appointment!!

When IG Burton had my car to install the satellite radio and alarm it took them longer than expected. For three (strange) days we had a 745Li. But I would not expect that to be very common. It was nice though!

P.S. Hi Fred.

I have my car in the shop this week, and they gave me a 325i E46. It's a nice car but it smells like an old Las Vegas Casino inside. Smells like someone smoked 2000 packs of cigarettes with the windows rolled up. It's a rental car they got for me from Enterprise.

On a side note, I installed my alarm myself and have it in now to hav the alarm activated. The dealer first tried to tell me the alarm wasn't installed, and then when I told him I know it was because I INSTALLED IT. He asked me why I did it myself and I said "Because I can". He said "oh". Then they wanted to charge me 2.5 hours labor to activate the alarm software. I told him the official BMW installation instructions quoted 1.5 hours for the complete install (software and hardware), so he said he would look into that and get back to me. Boy, 2.5 hours at $90 per hour is about $220 to change a few menu items on the computer screen. Well, we will see what they come up with in the end.

Do they think all BMW owners are stupid?

The dealers try to get the most out of people. They believe most BMW owners are just rich business/engineers who don't care/know anything about cars or rich kids who's daddy buys them a BMW. (No offense to anyone ;p )

Today we got a . . . PT CRUISER - SILVER!! It's a game we play with my son. PT Cruisers and Slug-bugs, police cars knock everyone back to zero.
Not sure I like the smell of the cigs in rental cars, but at least this one didn't have marijuana in the dash like the last one we got from Enterprise (crash of my son's car)

Dealer told me, if you own a 7 series, you get a 5 series for a loaner. X5 gets X5, 5 series gets 5 series and 3 gets 3. They have no loaners in the 7 series line. X3 had just come out at that time so I don't know what they give for it and Z4 gets 3 series. If they know you or your considering a new purchase they'll work you into something else.

I took my car in for service today (alignment issue). Was only supposed to take a full day at the most, but since my dealership is so behind, it wont be ready till tues
So for now they have me a white X3. Its alright, never driven one before. But i already miss my car so much. I was lucky to get the last bmw loaner, after that was toyota camrys..

I actually like having a loaner car for the weekend. Good time to plan road trips without piling on the miles in my own car

It's pretty warm up here in the Santa Barbara area too, but not too bad within a couple of miles of the beach. At least you have a white car for the weekend. Your Silver car is probably better for the heat than white though...

My car is supposed to be done today but so far no call. I know if I call I will wait on hold forever so I am just going to tough it out.

I got a Silver 325i (E46) as a loaner, and other than the fact that it stinks like cigarettes really badly, it's not too bad. (I have had the windows and sunroof open all day and night for 3 days and it still smells like and old casino full of Febreeze).
