My literal dream car
I guess the wait is starting to get to me a bit early; I had a dream about driving my just-finished-production-not-even-at-the-departure-port-yet 135 last night.
I'm still a bit in shock to have ordered it just the way I want it, since I certainly could "survive" without a few of the things I ordered, but I'm excited to know it's going to be exactly as I want it to be! I've been lucky to drive some great cars in the past, and I know I'm going to really appreciate this one!

Good luck mate, it's worth the wait. I ordered mine to spec and endured the wait and I'm glad I did because I got exactly what I wanted. These forums are great to pass the time because you learn almost everything about the car on here.

Oh, I think most aren't liars - just ignorant of their own products.

You sound like me when I was waiting for my 135i coupe! These cars are great and well worth the wait. It was a great process building it online then watching the production of it from the factory, tracking the boat it was on and knowing it was here on its way to the dealership!!!
I love my 135i, the fastest car I ever owned (and I had some fast cars) and just a great driving car! Good luck and welcome to the ulitmate driving machine experience!

Which dealer did you order from? When I ordered mine from Weatherford, I couldn't decide on options. For some reason, at that time (April '09), the factory alarm could not be ordered. Wasn't available. I proceeded to order every other factory option available. Now I don't worry about options I regret not ordering.
I agree with you that being able to order the car just like you want it, is a big plus. Try doing that with a Japanese car.

@robmason: I ordered from Concord BMW. I got a quote for the car itself ($500 over invoice) via USAA'a car buying service, autocircle.com. Got quotes on Perf parts from a participating dealer, and Concord (not participating) matched both. Getting exhaust & suspension installed at port, which saves ~$650. Concord has been a joy to work with.
With my Japanese cars (I've driven Honda/Acura all my life) I've never needed to special order since they're often available only with everything. (I'm leaving factory performance parts out of this.) I am generally a big proponent of choice, but I did not enjoy figuring out everything I wanted with my 1 & feeling like I'm spending a lot for what BMW considers "extras" vs. The Honda/Acura experience of having *everything* included (minus Nav) at a very reasonable price. My 2008 TSX just *has* heated seats, Bluetooth mobile connectivity, Homelink, etc.; that is just part of what comes with the car, no matter what. Of course, it's just psychological, since the "included" stuff isn't free, but I somehow feel less happy about the experience with BMW...
