suggestions on straight pipes for my 125i

After my ecu tune i would like to go for a straight pipe exhaust and was wondering if it is going to be TOO loud.. I don't think i have more then a set of cats so mainly i'm going to opt for a catback straight pipe but i saw a thread that said that a 135i rear muffler will make a raspy note too.. Any suggestions about straight pipes excluding the fact of mot's and legal and illegal nonsense?

It's going to be way too loud. You will want to at least keep your resonator to tone it down a bit and reduce drone. I have the PE and did a resonator delete and ended up adding a resonator back in. Just my two cents.

Will be too loud. There's a difference between a nice sounding exhaust note and all out screamer, and a straight pipe won't be that nice sounding exhaust, IMO.

I have a maddad axleback straightpipe (eurosport not the whisper) on my 135i and I rather like it. It is certainly loud at cold start and around 2k rpm under load but other than that it is only truly loud when you want it to be. Drone to me is minimal but they apparently welded resonators into the pipe.

Either way, I like it.

do you know if a resonator delete would be good with a 135I stock axle back on 128I

plus does anyone know how to get the crackle and popps?

Yeah, that's my setup at the moment.
The exhaust already crackles with the 135i axle-back alone.. sort of. With the resonator delete it becomes pops and bangs.

So what do you suggest for a nice loud tone ? Leaving the resonator or add a good muffler? I'm thinking of widening the exhaust too by half an inch

Honestly, if you got the cash just buy a performance exhaust.
If you don't, some are running a simple muffler delete that seems to sound quite nice without being overly loud.

I'm running no primary cat's, no resonator, secondary cats in place, no resonator, and a 135i muffler. It's incredibly loud at WOT or above 5k RPM, but when just cruising around town it's very reasonable IMO.

That being said i want to to have a big glass pack resonator installed to take away a lot of the rasp.

As echoed by others here, keep the resonator at a bare minimum. When I was doing my setup, I spoke to Supersprint about buying their resonator delete. They specifically told me I would not be pleased with the sound and to steer clear unless it was a track application.

i want a raspy sound with pops and cracks when decelerating.. so are you suggesting that is better to remove only the muffler ? i only have primary cats not 2 pairs so i think it would be a tad louder

The real issue when you remove the resonator is the sound inside the car not outside. When I had no resonator it was like an exhaust sub woofer inside the car. It boomed and made everything rattle inside. I added a small bottle resonator back in and the boom inside went away and the sound outside didn't change much. Definitely keep a resonator of some kind in your system.

thanks for the feed back I think I will remove everything from the headers down, widen up the exhaust and make a custom resonator now I know it has negligible gains but will it improve throttle response?

I doubt there will be a gain in throttle response just sound. I feel like my car revs quicker but probably just in my head lol.

Supersprint makes all exhaust piping for these cars from the headers to the muffler, straight piped or catted

So, went to the muffler shop and decided to do a muffler delete at the moment just to test if the exhaust note was going to annoy me or not.
Went prettyyy well and very happy with the note the exhaust made between 1-3k and the overrun is simply drooling . No drone whatsoever.
I'm planning on running a 3" catback with a custom resonator as I want to minimise drone inside the cabin.

125i have only a pair of cats which are situated on the exhaust manifold. Looking forward for a sound clip as I am really temted on doing so!
