Never have on the half dozen other cars and motorcycles I have had them on, even when exposed to salt and snow.

It's better than rust easting through a valve core, I guess...

Another swing, another miss.
The PPI for the 135i came back with a small leak, I just planned on fixing it via warranty, but the dealer wants to wholesale it now. On the surface, I'm guessing they want to avoid lemon law shenanigans, but the whole thing is so bizarre I wonder if there was some other reason (bizarre in the sense that I want the car but they don't want to sell... sounded like the setup for a scam/trick but then there was no punchline...) I'm starting to feel like I should just give up and get an Ecoboost Mustang. Similar weight with 2 less cylinders sucks, but I was looking at a 135i convertible, neither is exactly a precision instrument, and there's similar tunability. Mustang would way more reliable, newer, I could get one without a warranty, the market is lousy with them, the list goes on. But 2 less cylinders. And I feel like a Mustang is such a cliche. I like that the 135i just kind of flies under the radar. No dealing with V8 bros saying your car isn't a real car... I guess I'll stay on the lookout but I can only take so much drama over one car, if they're all going to have issues like this, it might just be a sign... |

I got my car back from the body shop finally! They did a fantastic job, the car looks better than it did the day I got it. Unfortunately they did not get me replacement blackline tail lights. Apparently the dealership told them that they don't sell blacklines and that the regular LCI tail lights are the same thing. But I don't really mind, I can live with the regular LCIs. Plus I have one good blackline so all I'd need is just the passenger side one if I ever felt the itch to have them again. And another thing, my cigarette lighter socket stopped working. It was working perfectly when I dropped off the car, it was not working when I picked it up. I didn't realize until I was already half way home. I'm hoping it's just a fuse because that's the only power outlet I have for my radar detector and phone charger. The aux and USB still work and I've read that those share the same fuse with the cigarette lighter, so that's why I'm a bit worried. I'm going to try replacing the fuse tonight and hopefully it fixes it. Do any of you know which fuse it is?

I kid........ I only lived in Wisconsin for 8 years I'm just thankful not to be working on a rust bucket anymore. Some cars would make me run to the parts store again and again just for PB Blaster and more propane/butane. Quote:
STAY STRONG You have 1Addicts behind you! Don't cheat yourself! If you want the E88 135i, get it. Treat yourself. Everyone talks shit about Mustangs. Who's ever said anything bad about a 1 series, especially after they've driven it?

Went out and beat on the car a little.
Nothing broke. Gave a couple kids a ride. They where asking all sorts of questions about the car and just auto stuff in general. Then the big question rolled in, can we get a ride. I'm like sure, hop in. Their reaction is the same as everyone's ... HOLY SHIT! I have not had anyone not say that phrase yet. LOL I love every time someone wants a ride. The reaction is priceless. I almost wonder if they are expecting Honda HP. Then the TQ kicks in and their just speechless. |

I know it sounds crazy, but the Ecoboost Mustang really is different than the normal boat of a Mustang. It's like a small yacht instead of a mega yacht
Something about it just feels like it's in the same spirit of the 135i. Amazing things to be done with FBO, strong community around it, runt of the family always aspiring to be closer to it's older brother, which tends to understimate it's little brother (135i vs 1M, Ecoboost vs GT). I feel like a lot of 135i owners would appreciate the driving experience, especially convertible owners (ie. people who are ok with sacrificing some handling for the sake of overall enjoyment). It also shares a lot of the practicality of the 135i. I would almost say at this point the biggest deterrent is the fact it's a Mustang. I went and dug deeper into the ones for sale... more than half of them are rentals... So that's having to replace every suspension bit right off the bat (if you've ever driven a rental Mustang, you'll know what I mean, you'd think they've spent their lives jumping railroad tracks) But then again I was also a little grumpy yesterday, and waking up today I realized I really don't want a Mustang. I don't want to stick out for cops, I don't want ricers trying to race me, I don't want V8 bros and old guys telling me how a 4 cylinder (which is faster with a 1k tune than the outgoing V8...). This is a second car so I'm not too worried about being reliable, I already have my "adulting car", this is really meant to be something to enjoy. I'll give it a few more tries for now, I'll also start looking at Boxsters, but they have the same problem that keeps me from just doing the smart thing and getting a Miata... not enough power. The fact is I'm not mature enough to tell myself my car is fast enough for the track, I need it to be fast enough to put me into a wall at a moments notice! Really I don't want a car that will leave me thinking "Man it'd be cool to slap a turbo on here. Man it'd be nice to get a tune. I wonder if there's a supercharger kit?". I'd rather buy a car with some speed and not use it, than take a car with good handling and ruin it with expensive mods trying to make it fast. |

Is Always The Answer Not entirely true, but close. If it were spelled Miota it would be more accurate... Miata is often the answer. My '91 needed a smidge more power (it had 116). I haven't driven the new one because I know once I do, I'll be selling the 128i for one and my wife won't be happy. I think the new one is at 155hp and similar weight to the original. If you're driving a 135i, you probably don't subscribe to the "slow car fast" idea so I think you might be disappointed with a Miata. An alternative is to get a first or second-gen Miata (called "NA" and "NB" respectively) and turbo it. Plenty of guys in the 300hp range on a car weighing 2500 w/turbo stuff. There are also v6 and v8 conversions but those start getting pricey quick. |

Went under the hood and did some cleaning along with a VRSF charge pipe install. On first impression I noticed a bit smoother idle and additional very low end power. Letting off the clutch without throttle to get rolling seems a bit easier, as well as reversing. Slow driving in low RPM seems smoother as well. Could be placebo, or that I banged out my air filter of some crud, but I'm leaning toward an actual result from the CP. I didn't really notice any improved throttle response. I also took a gander in my Mishimoto catch can. This is after ~2,500 mi. Good purchase in my book FMIC, DP, and MHD are next in line.

I changed the oil, checked the rear brakes in response to a service alarm (only issue is with the sensor), and put in the new $125 drivers side rear tail light. I like my BMW but it is not a cheap ride.

Tried to get her on the trailer to go home for the summer but it was a no go. Got up the ramps and beached it on the midpipe. Never made it to the muffler but I think I'd rip that off
