I've heard about the exhaust flap mod but what is it?
There's a flap in the exhaust that opens in the upper registers of the motor and makes it louder and supposedly it flows better. This mod just locks it open so you get the noise all the time. Google "e82 golf tee mod"
Oh nice, my last car shook my house and I miss it lol I can't wait to do exhaust on this car
Then get a bmr system and shake your house once again and you're neighbors houses
My first plan was to do catless downpipes and then custom axelback with muffler delete to go quads for the 1M rear. So we'll see how that sounds and go from there
Quad setup is nice but that's too much extra work for me

It's okay, I've been so long out of automatics that I fucked up in Manual mode I really need to get a new wheel with paddels. This push up to downshift/pull down to upshift bullshit is killing me haha

I have an idea for it not to be too bad. With removing the muffler it'll be easier to Y pipe further back and just go to the side of the battery well. Idk, my exhaust guy is awesome. We did the first center exhaust Mk6 Jetta in the world

You did say custom huh lmao I don't read well I guess. Shouldn't be much of a problem that way. It's the pre fabs that get costly

Got rear ended and took some pictures of my newly modded bumper. Body shop repairs at 4pm. Happy Monday! I've never been in an accident so have no idea how the insurance claim process works but it will be real interesting if my 1er is totaled somehow.

I was side swiped and the only damages to my car were minor scratches on the passenger fender arch and a gouge in the passenger door handle. The other guy was at fault and his insurance company kindly paid for my suspension and 18" wheels and tires. Meanwhile I bought a $10 bottle of McGuiars scratch X2.0 and got on with my life......

Can't see why that would be totaled. Receive check, repair it yourself. Profit.

Yeah, that damage doesn't look too bad. I think you'll be ok.

Agree on it not being totaled. I have zero tools to actually do it myself but would pay to fix it I guess, but that likely eats the profit.

Mine was black, so was my diff oil. No particles, guess i was lucky.

Still can not believe BMW will never replace it, unless the transmission is opened up....

Meeting a suspension specialist tomorrow, will see if he can install B12-Pro kit + M3 front end and do a proper alignment for a decent price.

Looks like just the bumper and trunk lid, is the rear fender damaged as well ?
If not, get a matching color from a front end totaled car (if you can find one) and the parts just bolt on pretty much. With the money you will get from insurance you can probably buy some pretty nice tools :-) I literally have a few clear coat scratches and the insurance company paid out $1300 per the estimate. Ridiculous.
What year is that ?

What I did last week

I did a three step paint correction and ceramic coated the 1er. Then had window tint installed, and installed smoked side turn signal lights. Photo is pre-turn signal install.

Yes. Used a Rupes Mille forced rotation polisher with 5" pads, coarse, fine, and surface cleansing polish. Did the small areas with a Griot's Garage 3" DA. Then coated with Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating. It was about 85 degrees in the garage, and I sweat out about 5 pounds over two days. It's not perfect, but it is way better than when I started! Thanks for the compliment.

I did many things. None of which were cosmetic, that's just not really my thing right now.

I did more aligning. Biggest change was pulling a lot of camber from the rear pass. side wheel, which was way off from the driver side, but the toe was good. Also made a DIY: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...3#post23285183

Then, I adjusted my rear Koni's. What a PITA! Just one winters' worth of grime caused some corrosion in the bottom stud of the driver side shock, which caused the torx bit to strip it, so I had to hang on to the body for dear life as I impacted the nut off. Set to about 1/2 turn back from full stiff, and I think it's great with all my other mods, it doesn't squat as much and doesn't bounce over this one really good suspension-testing lump in my neighborhood road, it just follows the bump and there's no drama any more.

Finally, I removed my rear seat, because race car. Saved 50 lbs for a track day this coming weekend. Contemplating removing the passenger seat, but unlikely.

"Tested" turning off traction control entirely on an empty road. Even stock this thing gets way too squirelly with that off haha I'll stick to DTC unless in an empty lot
