I do not know for sure. I never measured mine before installing it. It is not that thick though. It's thin and very flexable!
I have some 3M film for my headlights that I bought from Griots (they offer a pre cut 1er kit) and the 3M film from Griots is WAY thicker!!! I just measured that film and it is 1.0 mm's think. I want to say that the BMW 3M film is like 0.3 or 0.5mm's thick ? The BMW film is flexible while the Griot's 3M film is semi hard/firm to the touch. Hope that helps. |

You can order clear bra from Stickercity.com.
I got my full Ventureshield from them & had an approved installer knock out the install to keep the lifetime warranty. |

Update... The clear bra turned out really well. No problems with peeling and you can hardly notice it outside in the sun. I have gotten many compliments on the install.
The film on the mirrors is starting to peel a little bit. I have been meaning to have them redone. The company I used has a 2 year garranty. I think the reason why the mirrors are peeling is bc the are one piece of film stretched over those big mirrors. It is only at the edge of the inside of teh mirror that you can see the peeling start. But its not that bad. I really LOVE the way the clear bra film came out. Driving at warp speeds on the autobahn... the bugs at night really do tear up the front of the car! Now I don't worry at all. It has saved me countless stone impacts too. |

David...thanks for the posts and photos and all. I only have 300 miles on my 2011 135 and really need to get this done.... But I don't want to use the BMW kits, instead would prefer a custom clear wrap across the entire front and behind my wheels/sides...do you know of any places that do custom wraps here in Germany?

Your best bet would be to look in the local German Gelbe Seiten
(Yellow Pages) look under auto and folie or "Lack Schutz Folie" http://www.gelbeseiten.de/yp/quick.yp I found these three results for your search. I have no idea IF they are any good. You could also stop and ask any Taxi driver where they had thier Taxi covered. Most of the Beige Taxi's have foil wraps on them! Heidelberger Lackfabrik Rentzsch GmbH & Co. Kurpfalzring 100A, 69123 Heidelberg Tel: (06221) 74 85-0 Branche: Farben und Lacke In Karte zeigen In Merkzettel übernehmen Tinti GmbH & Co.KG Mittelgewannweg 10, 69123 Heidelberg Tel: (06221) 7 51 11 00 Fax: (06221) 7 51 11 17 Branche: Farben und Lacke In Karte zeigen In Merkzettel übernehmen Schlechter B. Dossenheimer Landstr. 103, 69121 Heidelberg Tel: (06221) 47 33 43 Fax: (06221) 41 91 93 I found my "wrap guy" quite by accident... I saw this Audi A6 wrapped in a flat black color... and then noticed his ad for his advertisement services. He was local to me, in Coburg. I think that is too far from you. I can PM you with his number IF you like>? You can also try looking under "werbung" for advertising in the yellow pages too. |

Some of you have asked me privately about the orange peel of my BMW clear bra. I thought I would post these pictures to help some of you decide for yourself. After almost two years on my car... I really reccomend a clear bra.
PS: the reason why you can see the edge of the clear bra is bc I used my flash in taking these pics. In direct sunlight you can barely notice where the film ends/starts. |

http://realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?p...ur=&series=E82 It also looks like BMW has stopped making the clear bra kit too. You will notice on RealOEM.com it says ENDED after the part numbers. You might PM Rikx1M he had his 1M clear bra'd by a company that had a scan file of the 1M. I remember him saying when he flew back to TX, he picked up a replacement film/bra from the company. I don't remember the name though. Dack

lol I did DIY my 991 before seeing your post, not extremely hard, I did full hood, full fender, bumper, hd lights, mirrow, front pillar. Cost for parts about $800 for all that, also door guard. I have on all my cars, 5yr for the GTR before I trade it in for the Porsche, with the 1M going for 4 yrs, still very good but I will do a complete detail over then do full hood and fender this time for the 1M.
BTW car is now little over 26k miles. |

LOL I tried to install this on my 2011 GTI. Now Drive a 128i. It was horrible. I managed to install the mirrors but the wide areas like the bumper were a total fail. I gave up and paid a pro to do it right.

Looks damn good
I'm looking to clad my two side and back windows (ramen blinderen) with a company here in Netherlands http://autokustoms.nl/ and i believe the result would be kind of cool .. I will post some pictures with the before and after. Actually is not that i do it for 'fashion' or so - just want to get a bit more privacy in my car. I found that some work for the guys on that shop in terms of car wrapping and thought about nice to share with you folks. Take a look on this beauty BMW 435i M Performance ....
