Fuel pickup issue?

During hard left-hand turn with about 1/4 tank of gas, the car goes into limp-mode and throws a CEL. After turning it off and on, everything clears and operates normally.

Is this typical of the 1M? Or is this unusual?

Had a similar issue with the WRX and Subaru addressed it in the STi by placing baffles in the gas tank.

Just from my own personal experience, I was at the track last week and only had about 8km range left and still taking the corners hard, I didn't have any problem with engine limp mode...other than worrying I may end up needing a tow back.

Hmmm. I'll take it in for service then. While it still has warranty.

Same thing, you know how to solve this problem?
The car always goes in limp mode after fast long corners, this happened when fuel a little more than a quarter.

P/S
Car is stock, this is error number 0029dc 002aaf, check the fuel pump, authorized BMW dealer told that he is OK.

I had this same problem when doing left turns. You need a surge tank to solve it.

In my case I didnīt do it. I just kept the fuel tank above half on the track.

Hmmm - I've run my car down to reserve while on race rubber at the track (road course) without having this problem.

Could something else be going on?

It is fuel starvation for sure... I start having it with race rubber in one particular hi speed left corner...

The fuel pressure fell, the ignition was cut, I heard pops on the exhaust pipe and the dashboard lighted like a Christmas tree. So I killed the engine, restarted it again and it went back to normal.

It happened a couple of times so I learn to stay always above half tank.

I had that same issue in E46. It started when it was about 5 years old. Current E46 is 11 years old and doesn't do it. My 1M never did it either so I would take it in and have the codes read.

Maybe a marginal fuel filter?

I have no issues in my 1m with fuel pick up unless I run it down very very low. My e36 on the other hand I need to keep above 3/4 so as not to starve the fuel pump on the track... I need to install a pump on the driver side.

I know this is a shot in the dark and your post is very old, but did you ever figure out the fuel starve issue on your 1 series? I have the same issue where my car goes limp on hard lefts if I am at 1/4 tank and would love to fix this. Was it a pickup issue?
