Power Steering Flush, Redline Power Steering Fluid
Gentlemen,
Can I use Redline's Power Steering Synthetic fluid in my e82 n52k? The cap says CHF only, but Redline seems to be marketing themselves as a better fluid. https://www.bimmerworld.com/Red-Line...ing-Fluid.html Has anyone used this in their car that requires CHF only? It be great if someone who's car takes CHF only, but has actually used Redline can chime in and share their experience. Thank you in advance. |

I'd be very careful about doing that. The fluids may not be compatible and could cause a very expensive problem. I can't see any reason to deviate from the factory recommendation of Pentosin CHF. A quote from the Bible (Mike Miller's Lifetime Maintenance Schedule), "Do not screw this up, or you will be in a world of hurt. Pentosin CHF 11.S is not compatible with ATF or any other lubricant or hydraulic oil! I don't recommend Red Line Synthetic Power Steering Fluid for use in BMW's." That should be clear enough.

Thank you for the reply gents. I have a manual 2011 128i. Do you get a slight shudder and minor RPM drop (~100 RPM) as you turn the steering wheel?
When you get to the end of the turn does the shudder slightly increase and you get a minor RPM drop followed by a surge (~200 RPM)? |
