2006 BMW 330i n51 Intake Manifold
Hey all,
I've been doing a lot of reading/research lately about the 3-stage Intake Manifold on the 128i. I have an n52 engine I believe. I finally found one (after many hours of searching) and I just want to be 100% sure that I found the correct one with the stage-3 and DISA actuators in it. So from my understanding, the n51 engines in the 330i's included this or am I maybe missing something? My overall goal is to install the stage-3 manifold and get an Active Autowerkes tune to take advantage of the extra airflow and DISA valves. Thanks in advance! |

Enter you VIN to ensure you have an N52. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-17...28i528iz4.aspx ^ Part #'s and pictures. I believe all N51s came with a 3 stage intake manifold, perhaps someone can correct me if I'm wrong. |

Thanks for the reply! So I used that website to confirm I do have the n52 engine. I'm curious about your question as well, if all n51 engines included the 3-stage manifold with DISA then what separates the 30 or so horsepower of the n51 328i's and the 330i engines?

I guess my overall question if that's the case, where all n51 engines came with the stage 3 manifold, if I bought an intake manifold from a 2009 328i n51 would that be the same as buying one from the 2006 330i?

That makes sense! So if I use the intake manifold from the n51 328i as well as tuning/euro airbox and headers/exhaust On my n52 engine, I can probably gauge around a 30-40 HP gain, correct?

Skip the Eurobox if you want to save money. It doesn't do much if anything.

It is definitely a bit pricey for the airbox. I was actually thinking of just throwing a K&N in there and removing the carbon filter. Would it really hurt anything if I removed that carbon filter?

No ability to comment on the negatives of pulling the carbon filter. I wouldn't deviate from the stock filter though.

Very cool, thanks for the information! Do you think the Active Autowerkes tune for the 3 stage intake would be a good choice? I'm also debating whether I just want to have someone locally install the software or order the Simon tool so I can do it myself. I believe it's around a 200 dollar difference when I factor in the labor cost of the shop doing it.

I bought some DISA gaskets, but they are used. What should I check for to make sure they are in good condition? Also, which evolve tune do you recommend for the 3 stage intake? I may add the headers down the road if I can find some for a good price.

Stage 2 Evolve tune is the one designed for the 3 stage. Headers are definitely a good option down the road, and work quite well with the Evolve tune as Evolve works closely with Supersprint.

Ahh, I guess I meant the DISA adjusters that plug in to the existing, non-used wires. I did get new gaskets for the manifold as well as new screws and bolts.

No, it wouldn't. It's there for emissions reasons. Mine's gone. Just make sure when you cut it out that you sand down the edges of where it fits in and remove it entirely.

Is it fairly easy to use the flash tool? From my understanding, you just plug it into your ECU, download the data, then send them an e-mail so they can do the mapping, then redownload it to the flash tool and then upload it back to your car. It sounds like you can switch back and forth from the A.A software and stock software?

First read takes like 45 minutes, every flash after that has taken me 10-15 minutes. I have all 4 of my flashes on my tuner just in case i need to swap in a pinch. Reflashing also clears codes if you have no other way to clear codes.

How do you like your euro intake? That would be my overall choice with the k&n filter. I have seen them new sold for 400 but I am having a very hard time tracking one down for a cheaper price.
