BMW 1M coupe to be available for European Delivery - launching May 16th

Good news for all potential 1 series M coupe owners who would like to drive the Autobahn and roads of Europe for the 1M coupe's maiden trip! It appears that the standard BMW european delivery program will include the 1M From our friends at Bimmerfile:
Quote:
We have just been informed that BMW will be offering the 1M as part of the BMWNA European Delivery Program. The final details have not been ironed out yet but once production slot become available the system will allow sold cars to be entered as European Deliveries. This is great news for us enthusiasts as the 1M is directly targeting us as the market and there is no better way to pickup a new BMW than at the Welt in Munich. Having completed three Euro Deliveries myself I cannot preach enough on how great they are.. so now not only will you be getting a fantastic vehicle but we now you know can drive it in the fatherland!

Jason,

Thanks for passing along the good news. The 1M just became a better option and value.

If the numbers are limited than good luck with pricing....remember they come out of dealer allocations so why would the dealer give up a car and lose money.....just sayn'

Does this mean it's eligible for the 7% discount?

awesome news.
Now, we need clarification on allocation. If the 1M come out of dealer allocation, difficult to get, no?

Why would that matter? The ones on their lot come out of allocation too, yet they sell those.

As for pricing, I'd expect it to be the same here or there. But if it was 7% less ED, if you purchase @ ED MSRP + just a little, it's the same profit as one sold stateside at MSRP.

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

Thanks in advance...

Yes you can and if frees you to order from any dealer in the country. Just ask the CA to do the redelivery at the Performance Center. It's even better for the dealer because they never have to touch the car. It's all paperwork.

Yup!

You just have to get to Carolina and get your car home. I originally didnt consider it. But, there seems to be some cool stuff to do at the PC. Track rides with a pro, off roading in new bimmers across the street, lunch?

Anyone done it?

Well, my impression (which could be wrong) is that if the 1M is not out of thier allocation, then in a sense ED is an bonus sale to them. They could do multiple ED's and not be worried about thier internal profit 'goals'. Edit: I dont think ED cars normally come out of their allocation.

If it is out of thier allocation, then they have to make thier money on every car.

Am I misguided?

Great news on the ED, would def like to know whether the 7% discount applies and whether an ED order 'eats' up from a dealer's allocation, hopefully ot as more leverage for the buyer!

Would be great to time it with the Nurburgring F1, and this event that generally follows right after:

I didn't do ED, but I had the first 1er PDC delivery back in 3/2008.

If you can, DO IT. The track time and factory tour are a blast, the delivery process is top-notch, the hot lap is amazing, and there are some awesome twisties not far from Greenville.

Regular cars (non-M) don't come out of the dealer allocation, however, M cars (M3 for sure) do come out of their allocation which makes them less inclined to discount them. Might have to wait and see what fate the 1M has..

I did ED and PCD for the 135i. Both were a blast!

I did both ED and PCD for my 135 as well...definitely recommend it if you can. Absolute blast and phenomenal experience at both deliveries!
