Confirmed Akrapovic

So after deciding and finding the best deal, i finally decide i'll go with the akrapovic evolution system with the downpipe and wireless. opt

by the time i wrote this post the seller is still waiting for my confirmation about CF and Titanium.. cant made my mind up,, my car is AW

is there anything i should be aware of with going with the akra.. like the stock exhaust hanger will they fit good?

Edit* ALSO AFTER READING the installation intruction downloaded from alekshop, seems very complicated especially with the wireless opt, is there any advice? tips for pre installation.. thanks!

thanks..

ITS HERE! and if everything permits i will install it tomorrow!

too late! already decided! best of luck. stock hangers will totally jack up the alignment. You need to get the carbon fiber ones with the diamond links to ensure proper fit and alignment.

Nice!

Akra or straight pipes is the only way to go on the 1M, IMHO.

The hanger issue can be done urself .. just ask your dealer to order a set of 135 hangers (same units akra gives out to replace).. cheap and OEM.

I had issues of the Akra pulling to the side over time, but that was due to the MadDad mids probably a tiny bit short or the excess lube that had been applied to the hangers after multiple axle-back fitments. Was easily sorted out with removing the lube and crimping a washer over the male Akra hanger bars. I should get new hangers as installers have butchered them over time and that was also part of the issue. Akra hasn't shifter in 2 months, so I have let sleeping-dogs-lie
i was wondering how does maddad compared with the akra evolution system?
did you go with the DP as well?
i was also wondering the Akra Wireless remote was powered by the cigaratte lighter socket or battery?

The wireless remote is powered by:
  • a non-rechargeable battery (but forget about its longevity: it's an achievement if the battery lasts ± 4 months)
  • or by a 12V socket:
    - front: cigarette lighter (part of option 441 = Smoker's Package) (easy to reach)
    - front: under the armrest next to USB port (probably part of option 6FL = USB) (requires some arm twisting)
    - rear: inside the boot (right hand side - cargo net spot) (part of option 493 = Storage Package)
(impractical for a remote: out of reach to operate)

thanks for the details, so simply if i attach it to the power socket it will last long right, even if the battery's dead..

That's correct. If you keep the wireless remote permanently plugged into a 12V socket, the battery is a redundant tool.

Please note that the battery of the remote is not rechargeable. So the fact that the remote is permanently plugged in, will not energize the battery: the battery is doomed to die in less than half a year (or faster if you often use the remote outside a 12V socket).

titanium tips = you gotta remove the carbon black soot over and over again to keep the tips shiny.
CF tips = the lazy option (all's pretty dark - so hides dirt/soot very well).

I think the majority of Akra's on this forum feature CF tips.

CF for the win. I do have problem with rattling when valve is closed. Haven't got a chance to get that sorted yet.

Jay-K... How do you find the sound vs stock through the entire rev range? Is it better throughout, or are there some bothersome zones (valve open or closed).

For those on the fence, hesitating whether or not to get the Akra, do know that time is running out, as - alike the 1M - the Akra production is discontinued. Might still be possible to find one if on stock, but backorders risk to be to no avail (except for second hand).

Been considering it but then also very much interested in Lightweights titan system which appears to be another great option that sounds spot on also.
