Colder weather creating much longer cranks.
Since summer I've had long cranks. Now with the colder weather here, the cranks are insanely longer....tick, tock, tick, tock...
Anyone else feel like their hpfp is on the verge of death with winter looming? |

Sounds like your HPFP (fuel pump) is going. Get it checked out.
Edit: Oh, I notciced now you mentioned that at the bottom. Any reason why you haven't gotten it replaced yet?

You're supposed to get a little longer cranks during colder weather. Its the nature of the beast that the oil is in a much cooler temp and it'll take a 1-2 cranks more than normal + battery is working harder to start the motor.

I don't know about longer cranks but apparently my car does not like 30F weather. Today it informed that 1) the temperature was below 37F (no doubt driving amybang! insane), 2) that my coolant level was low and 3) the "SOS communication system" malfunctioned. How I yearn for those balmy summer days when my only concern was watching the oil temp gage while ideling on the Belt Parkway near Coney Island!
