Mystery Device 135i DME

I just removed the JB4 and Port Injection (PI) controller from my DME and noticed this little device connected to the factory harness. Can anyone tell me what it is or what it does?

Thanks I went ahead and removed it and returned the wires to the factory positions. Would this cause the car to idle rough?
