best photo and video editing?

Just like the tittle says, just looking for photo and video editing softwares.
I've been told gimp or bimp w/e its called is good for picture editing and its good. As for video I heard jaycut is free as well but apperantly their site is down for upgrades.
Are there any other softwares out there that are free or cheap. Not looking to spend a lot of money since I'm just looking to use the software every now and then. I have a Mac, don't know if that helps.

i use iMovie. Very easy to use and pretty fast/good for just basic normal video editing.

If money is a matter for you then you can try Fotor or Darktable for photo editing. They both are free and available for mac users.
Here you will get the advantages of both of them- https://appuals.com/photo-editors-for-windows-mac/

I am currently using Movie Maker. KineMaster is also getting popular nowadays.
