Talking Coding Success!

If this is your first time reading this,
and you want to code your car like the examples below,
send me a PM, I can assist.

------

Okeeey dokey

so today with the help of a friend who has an D-CAN OBDII cable,
I ran NCS Expert on my 2009 E82 135i,

Module: Cas

ECU Module: NFRM
-> Disabled Cold Start Low Beam Bulb Check
(Hopefully stop the bulb warnings after installing LEDs into the DEPO aftermarket headlights)

ECU Module: Kombi
-> Enabled Digital Speed

Won't know if the bulb check disable worked till I do a proper cold start tomorrow,
but pretty happy overall.

You don't see a lot of 135i owners talking about coding,
so I wanted to share this experience and offer basic assistance to anyone considering coding their car

Theres a lot of things you can do, a few below in case you're interested
* Euro Corner Delete
* Digital Speedometer on Cluster
* Roll up the window while holding lock on remote
* Eliminating the ignition key dong
* Folding mirror while holding lock on remote
* Eliminating iDrive accept message on pre 09 units.
* Unlock doors when car is turned off... No more double pull on handle needed!

cheers

LOL edit: semi cold start just now and the bulb errors still there
Think I missed the correct bulb check in config
can someone advise?

below are all the KALTUEBERWACHUNG (cold bulb monitor) from my NFRM module trace file

Fatjoez - that pretty cool you figured out how to code your instrument cluster.I had my car coded by a German guy over here. You should also be able to code the voltage going to the Angel Eyes. You can increase the voltage and make them look very white.

Hey fatjoez, pm me, I finally had my depos installed, and the shop my by my house installed hids with them, and absolutely no error codes whatsoever, and no coding needed. I'll also send you some pics of the custom AEs they did to swap out the crap ones the depos come with.

hey guys
every car is slightly different & has different configuration values & sometimes even names for the same configuration values
but here is an extensive list to give you an idea of whats possible
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=9HGKgKvN

@N2Nalgas
regarding folding mirrors, if your mirrors are electric and they simply dont fold or whatever because of laws etc, then yeah most likely it is possible to activate it
same with a lot of features

@Sarrachino89
thanks bro, with mine the thing is. I had Depo82 Headlights installed with HID MTEC brand xenons working FINE for 8 months. As soon as I replaced the 16x small halogen bulbs in the rings, with LEDs thats when I started getting bulb errors

EDIT: Going to disable the following sensors related to the headlights
Quote:
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_AL - warmtest low beam
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_V - warmtest flash/turn signal front
WARMUEBERWACHUNG_SL_V - warmtest park light
WARMCHECK_E89_FL__E7X_NSW
KALTUEBERWACHUNG_AL - coldtest low beam
KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_V - coldtest flash/turn signal front
KALTUEBERWACHUNG_SL_V - coldtest park light
KALTCHECK_E89_FL__E7X_NSW
CC_MELDUNG_AL - notification lowbeam
CC_MELDUNG_BLK_V - notification flash/turn signal front
CC_MELDUNG_FL - notification park light
CC_MELDUNG_SL_V - notification park light

GUIDE
AL = Abblendlicht = low beam (front)
FL = Fernlicht = high beam (front)
SL_V = Standlicht vorn = parking light front
BLK_V = Blinker vorn = turn indicators front

i like these options...

* Roll up the window while holding lock on remote
* Eliminating the ignition key dong
* Folding mirror while holding lock on remote
* Eliminating iDrive accept message on pre 09 units.
* Unlock doors when car is turned off... No more double pull on handle needed!

I think what everyone really wants.. is getting rid of the dong when the seat belts aren't fastened!

don't think you wanna do that,
apparently the configuration option which controls that is found under the Airbag module

And as you can imagine thats made people scared as to whether disabling that will disable the Airbag from deploying!!!

The German guy who does coding over here (www.car-coding.de) has no problem with getting rid that gong.

One thing is... that who ever codes you car should do is... first save the OE codes... before you change anything. That way you can reload the old files - incase something doesn't work.

Also... IF you ever have your SW updated... this will wipe out any coding and put you car back to OE specs/configeration.

The dealer did this one when it went in for an update. Only problem is they also changed the date to day/mon/year instead of mon/day/year so I need to get that fixed.

Haven't checked to see if the windows will roll up with the lock button held down, wonder if they took my US spec settings and overwrote them with UK spec...

You can change the date formatt via the BC. No need to go to the dealership.

Yeah, I must not be finding it in there, been through the whole thing and I can't figure out where to change it back.

On my car I do not have iDrive. I think you press the menu button above the radio. Then select confiq and then time. I will have to take a look at my car later. I know I saw the setting just the other day! lol

Talking

Yo!

I went and saw my friend again today & we disabled the sensors I mentioned above
He also has a software called GT1 which he used after to read all the error codes on my car
We cleared all the existing ones & did a stop/start which returned a couple errors I believe

FRM - 9CB7 FRM Headlight vertical aim control driver fault - Open Circuit
--> this is cause the stock Halogen was replaced with DEPO82 Projector Headlights from JLEVI,
which dont have vertical aim control

hoping this won't trigger a dashboard bulb error,
but it shouldn't since the errors only started after I changed the bulbs inside the DEPO housing

a quick look through my NFRM module readout I found
DYNAM_LWR_ENABLE (active verticle headlight aim control)
nicht_aktiv

so hopefully this should cover me / be the reason why I havent gotten errors till now!

PS:
for those considering NCS heres a bigger list of things you can do
Quote:
1.Enable remote folding mirrors and windows/sunroof opening/closing
2.Enable remote windows/sunroof opening/closing
3.Enable remote hardtop folding
4.Enable One-touch sunroof venting
5.Enable TV/DVD-in-motion (only for the CIC)
6.Enable Euro front blinkers (disable US Sidemarkers)
7.Enable M3 digital speedometer in the instrument cluster
8.Enable any lights as your Welcome Lights
9.Enable remote trunk opening/closing (X5/X6 only)
10.Disable iDrive warning
11.Disable door gong
12.Disable headlight washers
13.Disable a bulb check error (LED bulbs, HIDs, etc.)
14.Retrofit coding (OEM Alarm, Sirius, PDC etc.)
15.E9x LCI tail lights coding (all FRM versions)
16.Head Unit audio output coding (Stereo, HiFi, TopHiFi, Individual)
for those looking for ncs expert, look here

A++ very good information in this thread.. I am trying to learn the arts of NCS Expert and still contemplating which type of cable to purchase that will work in conjunction with that software..

Though it does look quite daunting to take on such task, I feel once mastered it can save much headache in the long run..

I am most interested in the following:

- Corner delete (euro style corner lighting). From some reading I understand it has something to do with the sidemarker_us toggle
- Angel eye voltage output increase (brighter angel eyes by just adjusting voltage)

So i did not have a good coding experience. I loaded things up, had some remote help and selected E89 chassis and coded: digital speedo, amber delete, driver seatbelt gong delete, key fob window roll up and when i finished i turned the car all...all codes worked and my dash freaked the fuck out! I have 2 light warnings stuck on and cant remove. We recoded back to stock, i scanned with BT tool and cant remove them. I also have a service reminder light for my radiator which is set for 1/2001 (car wasnt even alive).

We have no idea why this happened, my battery was low and i had to jump it earlier that day prior to coding and shortly afterwards, but something didn't go right. Having to go to the dealer to do ecu reset.

We speculate that it could be the low battery voltage or just wrong software. Using the same software from Coding Success on e90 post.

Hmm please keep us updated. I was going to try this but thinking twice now..

Can anyone help me enable remote roof closing via my remote on my 120i 'vert? Thanks!

p.s. I also have the bulb error after replacing my standard park lights with LED's. They were supposed to be error cancelling, but after a while the error showed up.
