Frankly, I think BMW is being silly to offer the 1M Coupe in only three colors. Especially, considering that two of the colors are just basic run of the mill colors available on other models and the valenica orange is not a normal color...for any car. I don't care what you name the orange or how bright or metallic or pearl it is. It's still ORANGE. If they're going to limit to only three colors, the three colors should be new colors or colors that people like. For example, esotril blue, hellrot, laguna seca, monte carlo, or even the new pearl white available on the e92. What's next, the interior is limited to either all black leather or yellow leather? wtf!
So far, the styling looks awesome and I would love to have this car but the colors choices are dull and the orange is odd.

What a FN disappointment BMW, you can keep your limited run Orange M1 with your overboost N54. BMW, you need real colors that enthusiests like., any kind of red, lemans blue and a gray for SGM lovers such as myself. Looks like I will be buying that 2009 Cyber Gray Z06 Vette if you keep going this direction.

If you do work for BMW you're just there to sweep the floors or wash the cars. If we had a dollar for every J off that said they had 'legimate inside info' on an upcoming car that ended up to be so much BS, we would all have enough to buy a new 1M. By the way, the big secrets you shared with us are pretty much what the general consensus is on the car anyway. Last edited by NYC6; 09-12-2010 at 09:32 PM.. |

I am disppointed and will probably go for a M3 4 door before BMW screws up that good idea too or a Boxster S with limited options. One is more practical and the other small and fun. I cannot now see the 1M as a compelling upgrade.
From my point of view the 1M has only done 2 good things. It has improved the 135i looks. It also fixes the suspension problems of a stock 135i. I have spent $$$ just to get my car to handle correctly and at least the 1M will do it stock. Otherwise this is a HUGE disappointment.. |

The most disappointing thing about the 1M is the big buildup by "Scott" and the rest at BMW. If this is the real deal, MT, no Cabrio, limited colors and limited production, BMW has really missed the mark, big time.
As far as the marketing ploy by showing only parts of the car, this was really ridiculous and totally has turned me off. I have owned at least one BMW for over 15 years and more than 10 overall. I am very, very disappointed. I have never seen BMW play such silly marketing before. I won't be purchasing a 1M. Too bad. You had me going, Scott. You won't get me next time. I'll know better.

Think how silly BMW must have looked to the buyers of the US version of the E28 M5, only one color. Schwarz Black, with tan interior. BMW produced 2191 units over 3 years from '85-'88, almost as few then as the soon to be released 1M coupe. Just think, 25 years after the M5, BMW increased the total production of a certain M car by about 319 cars. Way to go BMW

What happened to the 1M being an "entry level M car" ?
The limited production really kills it. I wanted one... will probably try to pick it up used in a few years... but I have a feeling I won't find any. Dammit BMW. I'm buying an E46 M3. :P

If I worked at M I would be happy that those of you girls who can't stand the specs of the 1M won't be buying it. Infact, if I worked at M I would recommend that if we were to make a "pure" driving car, we only make it in stick, and in certain colors, and keep production down to ensure that only those true enthusiasts who really want the car end up with it. Those of you who think that color is a deal breaker are so silly I have no words for it. Those of you who can't drive manual and thus won't buy a 1M are, well, women, and I'm glad you won't be polluting the car with your girly driving habits. Men drive stick, that's how it has always been and that's how it always should be. If you complain about not having DCT or that stick isn't as good as DCT, then you don't know what it feels like to drive a true sports car. Do you know how many E36 M3's and E30 M3's came in stick? Very very few, because they were intended to be pure driving cars. Almost 99% of the people looking to buy E36's and E30's will not buy them if they are automatic. Having one of those cars in automatic almost reduces the value of the car by 40%. I wonder why?? Same goes for Ferrari back in the day. The amount of whining on this forum is unreal sometimes. Boohoo no DCT, boohoo, only a few colors, wahhhh no convertible now I can't have my hair tossled by the wind as I drive to my boyfriends house to drink mimosa's and get pounded from the back. Good, people like you won't buy the car and that's exactly what M probably wanted. Again, this is why companies like Ferrari only allow certain people to buy their cars. They don't want girl whiny complainers to own their cars. They want men who truely understand the pleasure of driving a raw sports car to buy their cars.

Disappointment after disappointment; I told you guys from the beginning this was too good to be true. BMW management doesn't give a rats ass about us enthusiasts, some idiotic moron is gonna buy this car even if it came with less power and worse handling than a 128 just because of the badge and at the end of the day they've sold their car, thats all that matters to them. They don't take pride building the best cars like they used too.

I am just pointing out the obvious, both in the way BMW has done things in the past and now. I actually love BMWs, this 135i is my 7th, all have been BMW straight six cars with the exception of my '88 E30 M3. (2800 CS, 323i, 325i, E30 M3, E36 M3 LTW, E46 M3), I think BMW makes the greatest straight 6s in the world, the best since the Jaguar DOHC straight sixes of '48-'92.
I don't know for sure if I will get a 1M, or not. But I can pretty much predict what will happen when I drive one. Pretty much. Only beef I have is by the time I get around to test driving one, they may have all been spoken for. I don't buy before testing, and many on here will, and have already. One thing that hasn't been answered yet is if BMW is going to allow European Delivery on this car. Yes? No?

I think the highly customizable, affordable and attainable 1 series M car was in reference to the F20 which was always designed with an M version in mind. The E82 M coupe seems like something they threw together because there was demand for it.
I don't have any insider info but I feel pretty confident that most people who are disappointed at this E82 will be singing a different tune once the F20 comes out. And if not? You can count me as disappointed too, but I think the E82 M is worth it based on the rumored specs and the renders alone. I would snatch one up in a heartbeat. |
