About to Purchase 2008 135 Need some help!! What to look out for?
Hey Everyone,
Well right now I am ready to pull the trigger and pick up a 1er (135i) from the Auction it is a 2008 w/Steptronic Black exterior and Red Interior with Sport Package. The vehicle currently has 45+K on the motor and has roughly 5k of factory warranty remaining. Below I have couple questions if you all can chime and help out that would be really fantastic. 1. Should I purchase a Extended Warranty Directly from BMW? 2. Should I purchase a Aftermarket Warranty? 3. What Price range should I be looking at for an extend warranty? 4. What are common failure issues for the 135i? Thank you all so much for reading and putting in your. 02 Cents

The N54 engine has had fuel pump issues but BMW NA has extended this piece under extended warranty. ASK dealer. Purchase only BMW Warranty and buy CPO car. Look for $1500+ for warranty. NO accidents??? if you are buying from an auction???? Not sure if you can purchase a warranty from an auction???

(Didn't want to bombard with a new thread so here is my related question)
I spy a CPO 135i Black Sapphire Metallic w/ Coral Red Boston Leather. -- 6-spd manual -- 21200 miles -- Maintenance to 5/2012 -- Warranty to 5/2014 -- Sport Package (ZSP) -- Premium Package (ZPP) -- Premium Hi-Fi System (677) CPO has given it new rear tires, front tires at 3-3.5mm left. Forgot to check brakes/rotors. Asking price... $30,992 What should I offer? Hard upper limit? With extended maintenance? Please help... I'd love to join the club but I'm very new to this. Thanks! |

There are multiple levels of auctions. Dealer only, The Trade, Open. Usually, the top cars go to the Dealer only. Prices are higher than open, which I presume means you. You should call your BMW to see if they will let you buy a BMW warranty. Although, you have a few Ks remaining. Check for history repairs as well as whether the car has ever been in a wreck. I don't know if there is a Carfax, but I would insist upon one. Check for number of owners. Do not buy a third party warranty that is subject to a lot of scrutiny by warranty house. Personally, I would never buy a high performance that was not a CPO. Remember, BMWs and other German cars a very, very expensive to repairs. Oh yes tires. Replacements will run $250 each.

Run the VIN thru BMW to see if it is flagged in their system. Cars that are modded and flagged in their system will NOT be covered under their warranty depending on the issue.
Just re-read your post. If it is CPO, you should be OK. Won't hurt to ask though. |
