Probably was warped... But I think it was from the pistons not retracting properly (which caused the sound) and then also caused overheating on the disc.

Regardless of what caused it either way I'm never going back to that first tyre shop just in case they did break it (didn't like them anyway)

Don't see how over torquing has anything to do with this, but would be interested in 'as to why'

Disadvange with euro cars is sometimes the wheel falls onto the brake callipers whilst unbolting the wheel, I witnessed this with my Cayman S in the workshop

Been a while since owning a jap car... but aren't the wheel bolts attached thus only the nuts need removing?

It's all nuts and bolts. Some prefer nuts others bolts. I could go on but that's the bottom line

I was just under the impression that studs (bolts + nuts) were more an aftermarket thing. There are kits out there to fit our 1ers.

Although I can't say I've had much experience in changing the wheel on a stock Japanese car. I remember I changed a tyre on my 2004 corolla but I can't seem to remember if they had lug bolts or studs.

All toyota's that ive known have studs with nuts. The nuts are tapered to pull the wheel into place.
