Arrow More 1M details confirmed: Limited Production Run - 3 Exterior Colors - MT Only

Reported on 1ADDICTS HOMEPAGE.

SUMMARY:
  • Limited Production Run of 2,700 units worldwide
  • Three colors: Alpine White - Jet Black - Valencia Orange Metallic
  • Manual transmission only

Reposted from M3Post

Well everyone I arrived late last night. All I can say is that I got a taste a BMW heaven. It was beyond words! BMW M were unbelievable hosts who spared no expense or effort to make this truly the event of a lifetime. From the grand dinners, to the thoughtful details to make it feel personalized for each participant, I will never forget the Power of M Award 2010.

Because the highlight of the event was in BMWs equivalent of Area 51 in Miramas, there were no pics I was able to take. However they were thoughtful enough to provide cameras for use during the highlight of the event. My head is still spinning that I experienced what I did! The memory cards are being screened and we will receive the pics in a couple weeks.

I will provide a complete report once I am re-adjusted to EST. I will however answer a couple questions (which are subject to change):

1M: This will be a very limited production run. BMW will produce 2,700 units worldwide. The US will receive the largest allocation (no exact number was provided). It will be available in three colors. Alpine White, Jet Black and Valencia Orange. It will come in a manual only.

I did see it in person in Valencia Orange. The interior was impossible to see because the windows were blacked out. There were quad-exhaust tips, CSL-style wheels like the ones shown at Oktoberfest, the bumper receives an integrated spoiler a-la M3 CSL, and the now famous side gills like the M3 were on the 1M.

M3: I was not able to get a confirmation from M about the engine but, my gut tells me based on the conversation that the M3 will receive a turbo-6. This is the lighter solution we were looking for. Remember the current V8 is lighter than the S54. BMW M are very aware of the desires of the enthusiast community. The USA is the largest market and is receiving careful consideration in the development of new products. We will not be disappointed.

Please look for a detailed account next week. I do have many customers to get back to so please bear with me. Thanks again for all of the support.

Best regards,

Thanks for the update. Lol, the dealers are gonna charge OVER msrp for this car. The only way I would get one would be if I were a car collector (or as an investment) with only about 500--1000 available in the U.S, I would not want to drive it regularly. I thought this was designed to attract younger buyers-- I guess not?

Thanks for the update

The only information about the 1M that disappoints me is that it will only exist in two non-colors (white & black) and metallic orange.

I was hoping, that there will be a blue version of the 1M

Although I am considering all three of these colours, for me this could be the deal breaker.

Not offering a blue or a grey is a bummer.

Personally I would have taken the manual anyway so no problem there.

David, you said the hood as displayed did not have a bulge. Did the hood look any different to the regular 1er at all? Like Jon Sibal's latest rendering where the edges are more pronounced?

Glad you had a great time, very envious!

Cheers,

Mark.

this really sucks imo

2,700 units worldwide!?!

I can live with no DCT, no carbon fiber roof, or even limited colors. But, to limit production on this car is really frustrating. there are a lot of us waiting for this car to come out (personally waiting for inline six M car since 2006), and now BMW is playing us all like chumps. We're going to have to fight over the few units available in the US and pay over MSRP. Worse yet, when this car comes out, those who dont get one are going to have to listen/read about how great it is and not have the chance to get one. So much for 'entry level', BMW. Thanks.

Sweet! 2700 is a very small allocation worldwide thats for sure. This would make it more of an elite kind of car (which I highly approve) & which seperates the grinders to the ones who will condsider paying full MSRP (or a small discount from MSRP that is) And not to mention a very strong resale value due to its limited availability as well!

Oh man, please dont encourage them. We dont want "elite" and "high resale". We want a great car available to the masses, so we can all enjoy it.

Damn this is interesting news. Did they say over what kind of time frame the 2700 would be made?

Also any mention of a vert version or is this E82 only?

Thanks for the update! Great to hear any news we can - am I disappointed with not getting my sparkling grey? - I guess a bit as I can't go white two 1ers in a row. Still, no matter what colour - it's the drive that's the key thing about this car and it will be superb in pink with orange dots on it

well. everyone has been wondering how they were going to continue to sell M3's after the M1 came out and i think we now have the answer.

with the estimated prices i've read for it i'm not sure how anyone could say it was "entry level"
