Winter Project List

It's been quiet on this thread. Are we all hibernating already?

Let's post up a list of things you are planning on doing this winter.

My baby is up on the hoist for the remainder of the winter and this is my project list that will hopefully get completed before the first track weekend next spring.

Stett Performance Dual Oil Cooler Kit
Precision Raceworks Ignition Kit and colder plugs
Precision Raceworks Stage 2 LPFP
OEM 1M Strut Bar Kit
OEM M3 Rear Subframe Bushings
CSF Aluminum Radiator
Every single coolant hose in the car plus upgraded aluminum flange from thermostat to cylinder head and new expansion tank.
Meyle HD Tie Rod Kit
Valve Cover
Vanos Solenoids
O2 sensors
Oil Pan Gasket

I think that's all of it.

Let's hear what you guys have planned.

Essentially nothing. Too tight in my garage to do anything, altho I don't need much.
I did buy a 3rd set of wheels (shh-don't tell my wife) and need new tires for the rear. I have Whiteline RSFB inserts to be installed. I'll change fluids in the spring. Would have liked to do this fall but winter came too fast this year.

Since we are mostly enthusiasts here, I suggest most of us winter store our cars. My 2008 has 100,878 kms, normal mileage for about a 2012 or so.

I have the Whiteline inserts right now. Still find that the rear seems to be twisting sideways under hard acceleration. Hoping the M3 bushings sort this out. One of the whitelines has ruptured as well so need to replace them anyways.

One of my aftermarket xenon's is not lighting up. AGAIN. I have go monkey with it and see if I need to order a new bulb. Have had bad luck lately with the xenon's. Thankfully I noticed a new bulb thread in the main forum, woo hoo!

I'm itching to do some work on my car but I'm not sure what. Car really doesn't need anythimg besides a new clockspring but i'm sure i'll find something to upgrade before spring. Thinking of trying Koni Active to combat shitty Edmonton roads.

I haven't even started working on that giant list of things to do but I did finally install this heater in my garage last weekend although I don't need it like you guys in Edmonton right now. Hopefully will start ripping the car apart this weekend. She is just sitting on the hoist waiting for her new parts.

Nice lift you got there. I'm jealous. Replaced my turbos last year on jack stands. That was not fun.

I have an extra clockspring if you need one. Let me know. I'm actually mailing something to my father who lives in Edmonton and I could throw this in the box if you want to pick it up from his place.

What brand brakes are you using. Do you ever hear about this company before. I had a set like this before on my other car but for the life of me I can't remember.

I have never heard of those brakes. I use Stoptech rotors in the front with Stoptech Sport pads all around. I have Zimmerman rotors in the rear as part of a hub swap kit that I installed to reduce the rear wheel offset by 10mm. The Stoptech pads have been good for me so far. I track the car occasionally and have been fine with them. They do dust a bit much but I wash often so not an issue.

7.5" vs ams intercooler.

Rsfb is done, but nuts on brake pipe were seized and broke the brake pipe when undoing the nuts. Now waiting for new brake pipes from bmw.

GoodMoodley, nice garage you got.

You have a nice set up as well.

What did you use to press the RSFBs. I have a bearing puller/press set that I am hoping will do the trick

https://www.amazon.com/Bearing-Adapt...l+bear&sr=8-13

I used this kit, has the the size i need. But i also need to buy a 1/2" threaded rod and some nuts and washers to use with the kit. The rod and nuts i got are grade 8, not the homedepot grade 3 or 5 stuff.
For the front bushings i had to bend the bushings lips inwards for the "cup" to fit.
The pulling part is not bad and a heat gun to heat the bushings helped alot. The most pain in the ass part is to get enough space since i didnt completely removed the subframe.
I also installed whiteline 2 piece bushings, so no pushing in is needed.

Ps: for front bushings the ID of the cup i used is 77.2mm, the OD of the puller piece is 71.7mm. Rear bushings cup ID 94mm, puller OD is 77.5mm. The threaded rod i cut it to about 8.5" long.

Nice thread!

Nothing planned on my side car is just hibernating and enjoying the mild winter this year. Awesome lists I can't even decide on suspension to go for.

If you need help with subframe bushings PM me. I think i have a post somewhere on here with tips and tricks.

Finally started to get some stuff done

I am so behind on my to do list. Spending too much time on weekends socializing and not enough wrenching.

How difficult was the hub swap ? I'm considering it now that I've got new wheels with a 40 offset.
