$600 service? Yeah right!
So my long-time mechanic who serviced all of my Subarus, serviced our previously owned AC Cobra, 1965 Mustang HiPo, the current-owned Ferrari 328GTS, and does my father's STi gave my car her 30,000km service today.
Yeah i went private. He is now semi-retired and is racing, so he has semi-closed books. I asked him last week if he can do the service on my car and he said he'd check. 5 minutes later he came out and said yes, just needed to get my oil of choice. So dropped the car off this morning to him. I came back 2.5 hours later and he was just finishing up. Oil, filter, air, everything done as it should at 30,000km, and my brakes were 30% front, 35% rears so said i should get them done very soon. Anyway, i was quietly thinking to myself if the price would compare to BMW's services. $152. Bavarian Money Works, they're killing us. Mark has always serviced our cars to our timetables - i needed to be in the city today at 1pm and he was finished at 11:30am, plenty of time for me to go in. I simply went and had breakfast, coffee and read the paper while doing a little bit of work as the car was serviced. $152. Done. |

Not now. I got my 15,000km done with them, but will be going back to my mechanic now. He has the service reset tool and it's pretty much a BMW service, i just wanted my choice of oil so he needed time to source a few litres of it.
I paid $165 for the 'checkup' at 15,000km. Looked at the car and said "new tyres soon" gave it some water and that was it. Paid less for a full oil change, both filters changed today. |

I'm told my EPP expires after two years? I didn't think that sounded right....???!?
Just reading up more now, seems that's the deal my company has...may be different for others? All i know is that cause i've only done 15,000kms, i've not been able to take advantage of any free servicing. I paid for an optional oil change after a year cause I prefer fresh oil.

I was quoted $400 for the first "inspection" service and charged nearly $900. Will get Andrew to do the next service.

I negotiated a servicing plan into the purchase of the car after the price was finalised..3 years. I don't mind taking it to Gosford up Old Pacific and my SA always gives me a nice car to 'test drive'.
I opted for an optional oil change at my first '12 month from build date' inspection service. Expecting to have to pay for it when I picked up the car, my SA just said it's fine and waved me on. Now that's customer SERVICE.

+1. nice going.
I managed to negotiate free servicing for the x5 (first service) but not for the 135. I have 10k to go on the 135 and with quotes as above not looking forward to it! On the other hand, have had my x5 for 2 years now and have paid not a cent in servicing costs. My next service is not for another 28k (oil change). I guess though if you factor in the long intervals in between servicing then cost per year is not too bad. I always try to negotiate free first service when i buy a new car. |

Well seeing as though oil should be replaced every 12 months if you're not at the kilometre buffers, you shouldn't have had to pay, anyway Quite happy with today. I was very pleasantly shocked at my mechanics price. He's so passionate about cars too, previously racing M3s so i know he loves BMWs. He was raving on about how lovely the straight-6 engine is, so i let him take it for a spin. Came back and just said "you bought a beautiful engine in a beautifu body". Need more women like my car... |

But yeh you got yourself quite a bargain. Plus I definitely don't want a woman that can lock me inside her with no discernible way of escaping.
