Winter tires on Staggered OEM 18's
Hey all - I just picked up a set of 18" Style 372's from a fellow member here for my 135is. Planning to use them as a winter set -- can I go square?
Tirerack suggests 225/40R18 all around, and there are almost no options for the wider winter tires if I were to go the usual 245/255 in the back. I've seen a couple old posts saying its OK to go square, might look a little stretched, but I don't care about that as long as they are close to normal. I believe the 372s are 7.5 and 8.5. Thanks! |

I just recently did this with the M Style wheels 225/40R18 Blizzacks the rear do stretch a bit. The only thing of concern and I need to look into this; is that the TCS freaks out at times. Don't know if the wheel is slipping in the tire or if the car thinks its losing control due to a square setup on offset wheels. Anyone have anything to chime in on this?

I'm looking to get my first winter set for my 135i. I have the same stock wheels OP is describing and thinking of doing the recommended TireRack fitment, but looking at the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's.... Anyone ever run this?

Either way... I'm also going to be going with Alpin PA4's and the temp is dropping rapidly up here, will update when I get them installed within the month. Tirerack does list the rim width for these tires and 225's are good from 7.5 - 9, though I don't know if thats a stock answer for all 225's or specific to each tire model. |

I just mounted the Michelin Alpine PA4's on my OEM (staggered) 261m wheels this morning. All 4 tires are 225/40R18. I was concerned about the stretch on the back. There's a stretch, but it's actually less than I thought it would be. Seems to drive well, tho I've only done about 20 miles & only up to 60mph... so far so good!

372 square setup
@swunder
I have an 11' 135i M-sport I bought a set of 372s from a fellow forum member to do exactly what you describe. The 372s are 7.5 in the front and 8.5 rear. I went 225/40R18 Blizzaks The rears do look stretched and the rim does stick out, but the Bridgestone site did confirm the 225's can fit up to a 9. |

My winter rims are powder coated black so I don't think it will look too bad stretched -- I hope. |
