You will have to ask some of the guys in your area who can do "coding". There are even some forum sponsors here that can do remote coding via the web.

Even some of the good German coders over here do not know how to do this AHL coding for US spec cars. Its kind of tricky.

Already did.

Normally I would have had my good buddy do this for me(easily was the best coder in the US), but sadly he passed away from a motorcycle accident.

By the way, thank you for sharing this Dackelone. It seems totally kickass.

I have not talked to the guy who coded my car. But a friend of mine who also does coding on the side, said this...

"the module where all those lights stuff is in is the NFRM" and "..the only way to be sure would be comparing the 2 files from 2 cars... also had a look at ncs dummy tool .. nothing visibly noticeable regarding this setting".

So... maybe the next time I see him I will let him scan my car's files(coding) and then we can compare this to another USA car. But I probably won't driving my car until the Spring time. My car is sleeping for the winter.

thanks for the info, Dackel. I've done a lot of research into this to figure out how it's done (without ripping off your euro coder guy) and there's another line in the NFRM module that enables the dynamic curve. There's also a VO on all adaptive-headlight BMWs which are imported to the US that cites to code out the curving.

From what I can tell, there isn't a VO you have to add, but I could be wrong there. The NFRM value that's on the euro cars simply isn't there on ours (ie, there's no aktiv setting).

If you guys want, I'll dig up the coding if one of you guys want to be a guinea pig. I wouldn't suggest it, though, unless you're familiar with adding euro features such as brake force display, etc.

Its funny you mention the brake force display. That is where the EU cars flash the third brake light rapidly during hard decell/braking. I had two different coders try to put that on my car. None were successful. Then I asked Frank and he said sure its very easy to do. So when Frank did my rear brake (third)light he also activated the EU AHL coding too.

The order item that's added to our imported vehicles is:
S8S4A DECODING, VARIABLE LIGHT DISTRIBUTION
8S4 -Decoding of Variable Light

This is basically a line item that says to turn off "Variable Light Distribution", aka Euro Dynamic Curving. Similarly, there's a line item to turn off the brake force display:
S5AHA DECODING, DYNAMIC BRAKE LIGHT

just throwing that there to show the similarity.

Here's the code in the NFRM module for an EU vehicle (specifically Spain) with dynamic curve enabled- note that the "LEUCHTWEITEN" roughly translates to "wide light". Again- the dynamic value does not exist in our NFRM in any form (english or otherwise)
LEUCHTWEITENREG_AUTOM
aktiv
LEUCHTWEITENREG_DYNAM
aktiv

Here's a slideshow of how the system works (part of the larger "driver assistance" setup):

Also, here's a massive thread about coding the functionality on. Note- it's in German.

took a look at my .TRC file for the NFRM module and as was already mentioned, could not find the two lines LEUCHTWEITENREG_AUTOM and LEUCHTWEITENREG_DYNAM. The only thing I found that was remotely close is
NORM_LEUCHTWEITE with the setting "wert_09".

took a look at the link posted by cheshirecat but couldnt figure out anything new to try.

Frank from Car Coding.de coded my car. I have no idea on how to do coding. In fact two other guys I know that are "good" car coders... did not know how Frank did it! Frank is GOOD! Damm good. I highly recommend him. Only problem is that he is in Germany.
