GARAGE PROJECT (The 1ers Bedroom)
A little while ago I decided to finally go after the garage. It was a lot bigger job than I anticipated, and definitely pushed the limits with the wife because I temporarily stored everything inside the house. So happy to have it done though!
I bought 4 Gallons of the Griot’s garage floor paint. http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...+one+gallon.do I followed the instructions provided. Before I did anything, I masked the walls of the garage so the drywall didn’t soak up the water. Next, I pressure washed the garage floor to remove all the dirt and grime. The next step was to etch the concrete with muriatic acid. I used a weed sprayer to spread the acid, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then I pressure washed it off. After letting the floor dry, I mixed the hardener with the paint for 1.5 gallons, and did a lighter coating on the floor. Which I let dry before using the remaining 2.5 gallons on a nice thick top coat. After letting the floor fully cure, I masked the floor off to protect it and removed the masking from the wall so I could add a few outlets, mud, sand, and texture. I used a white sealer/primer on the ceiling, and primed the rest of the walls with gray to help with the darker red/black colors. I also put a chair rail up and painted it white to help split up the colors. I bought what I felt was the cleanest looking garage storage system from home-depot. I debated a tool chest, but instead went with a few stationary sliding drawer units. The workbench fit perfectly over the top of those two units. The larger cupboards fit my bigger tools like a chop saw and table saw perfectly. Once the garage was finished, it was still empty with everything inside. I couldn’t bring myself to come and clutter it back up, so I created a ceiling storage system. I was able to hold 18 bins on the ceiling. The wife and I came to an agreement that she wouldn’t put anything in the garage; in return, I gave her 9 of the ceiling bins for whatever. It’s worked out great so far. UPDATE 10/10/14 I picked up a couple T5 High Output fixtures and installed them. Loving how much brighter it is for detailing my car. Last edited by boyerstyle; 05-12-2018 at 01:38 AM.. Awesome! I'm so jealous of the garage - no such luck for me living in a condo.
Great work! Cheers, Bryan

The floor held up amazingly well. My buddy burned out in my garage on accident and I was even able to get that up with a magic eraser. My only advice is not to use a flexibly filler on the concrete. When pressure was applied to the floor over a spot I filled in, the paint cracked as the filler flexed. I'd use something that dries hard. Im excited to see that Griots is now carrying their floor epoxy again. I'll keep you posted on 1ers bedroom 2.0 as it develops

Photos updated from the photo bucket policy change.. that was annoying. So many threads now with the generic photo bucket image.

Glad to hear it! Wellll I'm sad to report 2.0 has not begun yet, work and life got crazy, but this summer I'll knock it out. I've got big plans, I think I am going too incorporate metal roofing for part of the walls. I'll keep you posted! How's the home coming along??
