Seeking performance-style non-carbon spoiler recommendations...
I've got a SGM 135i and I don't like the look of unpainted carbon fiber on the SGM paint. Too similar.
I want a spoiler that's similar to the OEM Performance fitment, but since I'm going to paint it and the Performance carbon knockoff ones seem to have fitment problems, why not just go with an ABS or injection molded one that will be soft enough that I *know* it will conform to the trunklid properly? Can someone recommend such a spoiler? (and not one of those ridiculous 3D Design ones, either. $800 for a piece of plastic. lol) |

I have seen the FRP ones on eBay, but the "F" in FP means fiberglass, which doesn't sound very flexible to me. Are they known to have better fitment than the other options? Any specific experience with that particular one?
Thanks. |

Actually it means "Fibre"...
The fibres are usually fibreglass, carbon, or aramid, while the polymer is usually an epoxy, vinylester or polyester thermosetting plastic. I don't have any experience with these but I did get a CF one from eBay and the fitment was perfect. A couple of the other guys on here bought the same one and we are all agreed that it's pretty much indistinguishable from the OEM one... As I said, I haven't seen the FRP ones in person but the 2nd link is for one that's only $60+shipping... If I were you I'd be prepared to give it a go.. If it's no good, so be it... Up to you though... PS: You could always pick up a "known" good CF replica and get it painted - I'd be happy to provide the link to the eBay store that I got mine from... |
