DCT delay fixed
After 1 year of going to services and complaining about DCT delays, lag responses, etc, finally they found the problem.
The battery was set up for 70 amps instead of 80 amps so they set it up correctly and adjust the clutch (Im just repeating what they said to me). Now the car works like an automatic should, with no lags. FYI |

+1 Definitely curious. Also does your car feel less powerful? I remember some saying it felt less after software updates.

Didnt have the opportunity to test it on the highway and this last week it has been raining a lot so the accelerations cant be very aggresive. I didnt notice any loss in power but this saturday I will test it on the highway and let you know.

Oh wow, the secret Argentinian clutch adjustment. A little known trick brought over by some Germans who suddenly needed a new place to live .
Seriously, though. They didn't adjust your clutch. |

As I said on my first post after the fix, Im just repeating what they told me. The only thing I care is that is finally fixed. I dont care if they adjusted the clutch or if they called David Copperfield to fix my car...

So... the car was basically coded for the wrong size battery ?

Amazingly, registering the battery incorrectly, or using the wrong input info, can cause ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS to include drivetrain problems. I diagnosed a 2011 528i for a throttle issue and intermittent radio operation. Turns out the IBS was bad, and the "New" battery he had installed was registered incorrectly. Replaced the IBS, and registered the new battery and the throttle issue was fixed and the radio/Idrive worked perfectly. No more random on and off reset cycles.

What's the likelihood of that being a prevalent thing versus a one-off problem? Going to be bringing my car in for maintenance soon and was going to have them look at software versions to see if there was an update that could fix the DCT lag on my car. Would be interesting to know how to check and see what voltage the battery was car was coded for.
Could you read that with INPA or something? |

Has anyone else tried this with their dealer? I need to go in for maintenance soon (and airbag recall) and I am toying with the idea of buying the PPK just to see if that fixes it. But I really want to get to the bottom of the issue...

DCT
I have had my dealer look at it twice now and have gotten the newest DME update. That seemed to fix the issue for the first few days and then it comes back. I have learned to live with it somewhat but there are times it is downright embarrassing (even dangerous!) with how this throttle acts. I can't trust this car to make any sort of quick maneuver from a stop or in a slow rolling situation, I have no idea how it will act. If I was to try making a quick turn it could do it's 1.5 second stall and I would be toast. |

Posted this in a different thread about this:
If anyone can do their own coding or can find someone to do it for them, you should try a shot at the INPA software. All last year my car was plagued with this dreaded issue. Last month my buddy did some coding on my car, and just for the hell of it, reset both IDLE FLUCTUATION and THROTTLE ADAPTATION. I've heard in the past that resetting throttle adaptation by the book (putting pedal to floor, etc) will help with the issues for a short period of time before returning, but this was never the case for me. I really think resetting the idle fluctuation through the software might have been the ticket because I haven't had a single problem with the dct since and I drive it with the a/c on every day. If someone else could verify this for me, this could either be the solution, or me just getting lucky. Hopefully the former. Hope this helps someone! |

Since this is sticky'd, is this the assumed fix for the DCT "hesitation" issue? Seems a little presumptuous to sticky it before more people can test it or something more official comes out. If it is a fix that's great, but I don't want to waste time or money going down this route if it's just "fixed" because the programming got reset again.
@alias747: I have the ppk1 and I still have issues, also from searching this forum others with the ppk software still have DCT issues. |

I just got the latest DME update and the throttle hesitation is now totally gone!
I was resigned to just living with it until I tried to turn onto a busy street from my complex driveway and my throttle hesitated, almost causing a collision. I'm a bit worried that some here have said the fix is temporary as the computer will revert back to its previous state throttle-wise.

"Found DME to have update available. Completed update to most current software at this time. Data status (l - level) e89x-015-03-501 MR." - not really sure what all that techno-babble means but my throttle lag is totally gone. I can now drive with confidence! FYI: I got this installed by my local independent shop that specializes in German cars not a BMW dealership.
