M5 reps pics pLease 225/40/18 on 18x8 and 255/35/18 on18x9
I want to buy the M5 reps off of DTM but I cant stand it when the rims stick out further then the tire. So I wanted to make sure I knew how these tires are going look before I buy them. Does anyone have this exact setup that would be kind enough to take some close up pics of the front and rear tires from a few angles.
THANKS! Jesse |

I did alot of searching and so far have not been able to find a pic that lists this tire size on this rim size. There are tons of pics of the M5 reps but most of them are 19's or have the wider tires like yours. I just wanted to see what they look like before I order them.

I am not talking about the rim in relation to the fender I am refering to the rim in relation to the tire. I will be ordering it in the 38MM offset as that is what everyone else seems to have done and liked it. Jesse |

See the pic below, am I not right in assuming that the bead should not stick out further then the tread of the tire? I have never liked the way it looks when it goes inward from rim to tread. Granted this pic isn't nearly as bad as some of the others I have seen where the tire is obvioulsy 3-4 inches to narrow for the wheel. I am getting some M5 reps, what size tire should I get if I want it to look natural like the a stock set up. The tires that have been suggested in a "package" are 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear which are the stock 330 ZSP tires. The fronts seem to make sense as the stock ZSP 162's come with that size tire and they are also 18X8 but the rear stays with the same tire even though the rim is .5" wider. Tell me if I am making a big deal over nothing but I its just got me worried a little that I can't see them before I buy them.
Thanks, Jesse |

There's a "rule of thumb" in the tire industry saying that for tires with 45 or lower profile, the rim width should be 85% of the tire section width. The stock rear tire size follows this rule: 255*0.85/2.54 = 8.5 inches. Upping the rim width to 9 inches gives a section width of 9*25.4/0.85 = 269mm, closest match 265. Likewise for 8 inch rims, the proper size according to the 85% rule is 8*25.4/0.85 = 239mm, closest match 235. Hence I plan to use 235/40/18 on my front 8x18 rims and 265/35/18 on my rear 9x18. If I were going to get 9.5 inch rear rims, I'd want 9.5*25.4/0.85 = 284mm, closest match 285. But I'd worry about rubbing at that size. Also I'd have to go down to 30 profile instead of 35 to keep the wheel circumference down. |

THANKS!
This is exactly the information I was looking for. From what I can tell et38 seems to be the closest to stock offset. Is that what I should be going for? The et25 rears seem to stick out a little to far from the pics I have seen. Jesse |
