Just a reminder for those who are thinking about ordering but haven't yet. All orders need to be placed by Sunday 2/26. I'll be sending the final numbers to BMW of Minnetonka first thing Monday morning.

The dealer has already placed one order for those who put in their orders early this week. So hopefully that will cut down on wait times for you early birds. I'll let you know when I have more details. It's possible we'll have the fluid sometime next week (for those who ordered early) and I'll ship it out to you right away.

Finally, Intuit let me know they'll be doing maintenance on their credit card payment processing system from 11 PM Friday, February 24 (tonight) until 3 AM Saturday, February 25 - Pacific Time. So if you have any problems ordering between those hours, please try again after that.

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

Ordering for the group buy is closed. Thanks for all the interest! I'll post on here as soon as I have an estimated delivery date. Based on what Wayne at BMW of Minnetonka told me, it shouldn't be too long.

Please let me know if you have any questions - and thanks again!

I didn't get in on this GB because I live in Germany and I can only recieve USPS, or international FedEx/DHL at horrible prices. But I didn't think you could ship liters of oil with USPS...have you confirmed that you could indeed ship liters of oil using priority mail?

I checked with USPS, FedEx and UPS and they are all okay with shipping this item. USPS had the best price so I decided to go with them.

Rick... I think we "can" recieve motor oils(& gear oils) thru our APO (MPS) mail... its just that we can NOT send that stuff out from here. Kind of like tobacco and alcohol - we can recieve but not ship out from our APO.

I have recieved Redline gear oil to my APO before. But that was last year.

I feel so stupid...here I've been trying to source these oils in Germany paying a huge premium when I could get it from good ole USA and have the frigging USPS mail it to me...duh!

I missed out as well; don't monitor the forums much. Let me know if another group buy is planned.

Hey guys - I submitted the quantities on Monday morning like I agreed with the dealer and they put in the order the same day.

At this point I can't take any more orders. I promised the dealer I would make this as easy as possible for them - one order and done - since they were so good about offering this at their cost.

I hope you understand. I've missed out on two group buys recently (including the one for APEX ARC-8s aaarg!) and wasn't able to get in after it closed. So I'm waiting for the next one and know how it feels.

Thx again for organizing this, look frwd to getting the goods. What was the final tally of orders? I recon it was popular, so perhaps at some point we can do a second round for those that missed out and those that want to have a new flush.

Look what arrived today!

The entire order is here, ahead of schedule.

As you can see, BMW is using a different bottle now - not the Pentosin labeled bottle from before (picture here).

I'll be getting these out early next week and will send shipping confirmation e-mails to everyone who included their e-mail address when they submitted their order.

64 liters ordered by a total of 18 forum members.

When I put this out to dealers I told them I expected the group buy to be for "20-40 liters, depending on the pricing we are able to get." So we exceeded that by a lot, though I confess I kind of sandbagged my estimate. I figured since BMW tends to understate hp and 0-60 times, it was the right thing to do.

I think this was pretty successful, especially given the limited number of 1M owners. For perspective, 53 people participated in the recent APEX ARC-8 group buy #5, and that was posted on multiple forums, including 1Addicts, M3Forums, Bimmerforums, E46Fanatics, ZPost, E90Post and M3Post. Maybe there were more people, but that was the final number posted on the ARC-8 group buy thread.

A few of the Saturday shipments have already been delivered. When you get your order, I'm interested in knowing if the fluids arrived safe and sound and if you recommend anything different as far as packaging goes (in case we do this again). Let me know when you get a minute. You can PM me if you prefer that. Thanks!

shipment arrived perfectly, thank you! everything was handled so professionally, if you don't have a shop/store already, you should so when i took my car in last friday, they ended up changing the tranny fluid with the run in service, so i might not need my two bottles. anyone interested in mine for the same price?

Thanks for the kind words. This has been fun for me and a great learning experience.

In case anyone is interested, I ended up needing 4 more liters and the minimum order quantity is 12. I figured I'd have an easier time finding a home for the additional 8 liters than the dealer would, so I told the parts manager I'd take all 12 liters.

So I have another 8 liters that need a good home! If you're interested in ordering 1-8 liters, please let me know!

5 liters still available. Most likely one order of 3 liters and one order of 2 liters.

I already received a few delivery confirmations on the orders I sent on Monday. If you have any questions or if I can do anything for you, please let me know.

Thanks!!

Many Thanks ///BYU

Just got word from our mailbox receiver that the package had arrived as of this morning. Now I just need to drive across the border to retrieve it.

I have been most impressed with the professional handling of this group buy. As a Canadian I was having trouble with the buy because my foreign visa wasn't being accespted. ///BYU helped me to use a guest paypal procedure and all was well!

Thanks ///BYU for all of your efforts on this!
