Auto Dimming Mirror & Garage Door Opener
I didn't get the premium package on my 325. The auto dimming mirror with garage door opener is listed an accessory in the accessory book, however according to my parts department the car needs the "dazzle package" to be able to use the new mirror. In the US I can't find any information on a dazzle package. Anyone have any info if you can retrofit the mirror?
Thanks |

Never heard of a dazzle package before. I'm not too familiar with what's standard in the US, but I'm thinking that if you already have an auto-dimming mirror then it shouldn't be too difficult to retrofit one with the garage door opener. However, if you have the standard mirror with manual dimming then it's likely that the required wiring may not be in place to accomodate an auto-dimming one.

I'm interested in this, too. I really wanted the GDO but didn't want the premium package. I asked my salesman and he indicated that the auto-dimming mirror and GDO could be added, but would cost about $500. Not sure how much of that was parts vs. labor. But, maybe that suggests the necessary wiring is already there.
I didn't have them install it, but if there is a way I can install it myself at a much lower cost, I'll definitely reconsider. |

I thought the autodimming mirror is a self contained unit with the 2 photocells determining when to dim. Why do you need an option on the car, or is the car option needed to undim when you shift into reverse? I can live without the undim in reverse. I never manually undim it when I backup now. |

First, welcome. If there were some special requirements it should say so in the accessories brochure. If the only E90s that don't have the homelink/dimming mirror on non-premium package cars then either you can add it or it shouldn't be an accessory. I'd get a second opinion.

I got the same issue.
I have a 330i. Already have auto dimming. When I ask deal about the mirror with auto dimming and HomeLink, they look up my VIN number on the computer and tell me I can't have that, because the one with Auto dimming only have 2 wire....and the one withn HomeLink have 4 wire... I don't know why....I always think there is only wire for power...thats all ...but seem like I am wrong.

Maybe that means the dealer is going to dazzle you with an effed up price to get it installed because they 1. Don't know how or 2. They are to lazy.
